A few kms north of the main hwy on the road to Nong Bua Lamphu. A simple, budget hotel/motel with many rooms at a cheap price. It wasn't full when I stayed. The rooms are large but basic, road noise is minimal. Breakfast is very simple, coffee or tea from sachets and eggs on toast. There is a karaoke bar out back but not much was happening. There is also a large outdoor restaurant/bar out the back....no one was there. Easy to get to the main town for markets and eateries and tour out to local sites for things to do like visit the Batcave at Pha Phu Man National Park. Don't do your ironing in the rooms.

about 2 miles out of Chum Phae good car park free wi-fi various prices of room from 400bht (about £8) to 700bht (£14) stayed in one at 650 bht, large with medium bathroom. good tv and aircon, water very hot as i have usually found in more rural Thailand the bed was like rock - could not sleep so hard, it is ok for the locals but not for us from further a field. Also the rooms are not cleaned up to standard that we might expect in Europe etc. Well worth asking for room to be sprayed for mossies and other bugs - get it done in the morning when you go out, needs a few hours to disipate Breakfast is 0600-1000 and is extra, as is drinking water (most hotesl in Thailand provide this free) There is a nice outside restaurant next to the hotel, one of the very few I have found in Chum Phae Shame about the bed would have stayed 10 nights - so it back to the Major Grand again (£24 with breakfast)

I have never slept there. So I don't know about the room. the hotel is about 1.5 from the main highway. it's along the road to go to Laos or Udon Thani. I've been a few times to the karaoke, it's a nice place also have private karaoke room. Honest prices for the drinks.
