I have stayed in this hotel several times when in Chum Phae over the last two years, the rooms are big and comfortable, the breakfast is basic but good, staff are friendly and helpful. The pool area is the jewel of this hotel, recently re tiled, sunbeds and a restaurant with cold beer beside it. Heaven on the hot days.

This hotel has seen it's day. I'm sure at one time this was the place to go for luxury. It's very tired now and needs an update. There's no kettle in the room or coffee maker. If you want hot water you have to go down to the lobby. The beds mattress needs changing. A little on the lumpy side. The pool is beautiful. Motorbike was very inexpensive to rent. 150 BHT for 24 hours. There is a bar attached to it but there's no one there. I went twice and it was empty. Not worth the money in my opinion.

Stayed here for 5 days, found the hotel very run down, the breakfast was awful, coffee machine broken whole time we were there in the coffee shop the room I had was a very pleasant size, and the air conditioning worked well bed very comfortable , the swimming pool was rather nice but too noisy to sit around in the afternoon as outside people are allowed to bring their children and use it. The Bell Boy was very helpful, Oversll with money spent to bring it up to date this would be a very nice hotel , it has the facility, but obviously struggling with the upkeep and maintenance , but for what I paid I cannot. Grumble.Woukd I stay again, yes for the pleasant room only .

The Major Grand Hotel looks impressive from outside. This impression will quickly vanish once you have checked in. The rooms are old and run down. The furniture is somewhat sticky. You will discover black spots and lines on your palms and arms when you rested them too long on one of the tables. Yet, the rooms are spacious and clean. There is a problem with the water supply. Sometimes you will have only hot water, sometimes no water at all. A colleague of mine who stayed in the same hotel had to change his room three times within one week because of a defective or noisy aircon. All rooms have Wi-Fi which is quite stable and fast. To Non - Smokers delight: the whole property is smoke free. All rooms have a fridge which does not deserve this name. Even after 3 days all drinks are still lukewarm. This is the first place ever I drank beer with ice, even though it came from the fridge. Hotel staff explained that no hotel fridge gets any colder. If they only knew... The breakfast is lousy. A very poor selection of Thai and Western food and when you come too early for breakfast everything is cold. They hotel advertises on their website to offer Western, Japanese and Thai Cuisine. The "Japanese Cuisine" consists of two Sukiyaki dishes which bear a resemblance to local Kwai Tiaw and taste the same. The Western is just Club Sandwich, Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce and a few salads. Selection of Thai Food is good but the quality cannot compete with any footstall outside near the road. The hotel staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful, even though only a few of them speak English. In fact, the nice hotel staff prevented me from giving the hotel a one star rating. Near the hotel is a good steak restaurant and a Lotus supermarket is just across the road.
