I spent a week at Ban Ing Nam and underwent the weight management Program in early November 2008 and was extremely pleased with the overall experience I had.

Ban Ing Nam is located about 45 minutes north of Bangkok in Nonthaburi, which is a more serene, less-hectic location than the big city of Bangkok. Being outside of the city has its obvious advantages and disadvantages; firstly the advantages are cleaner air, more quiet surroundings, a nicer floral environment and a sense of escaping the extremely busy life of Bangkok. The disadvantages being; a longer distance to travel for a guest (resulting in extra cost and time) and the fact that one can assume the location is unknown to any westerner outside of Thailand. However someone I know recommended it to me and was raving all about his experience, so I decided to try it out for myself.

With a wide variety of special packages especially designed for, and customized to each and every client the resort offers a very distinctive, specialized service, through which they make themselves exclusive to a more specific niche market. This kind of service is an absolute benefit of Ban Ing Nam, however it comes at a price, which once again makes their treatments only attainable for the more well-off clients. Prices ranging from about 20,000 BHT and upwards per person per night including full board service and completely customized spa package. For me it was a pricey but well worth-it experience.

The food quality and styling that I sampled was exceptional and exquisite. A great deal of thought and care goes into the design and preparation of each plate, which can easily be observed and tasted. This degree of assertion, focus and commitment to delivering a very nice food and beverage product, I would say, more than fully reflects the wishes of the target clientele, and therefore is an extremely good strength of Ban Ing Nam.
As the high price aims for a higher segment of clientele, I believe the health/spa service and food quality of Ban Ing Nam correctly reflect this rather highly priced ticket and I expect very few complaints from any guest to arise from this area. When you first check into the resort they talk to you to find out which ingredients you like and dislike and after that put everything together to create a fully personalized exquisite food experience 3 times a day. You never know what you're going to get and that is the fun of it. Need need to make choices, eat when you please as you please. It's truly delicious!

However, being a full board, highly exclusive, all-inclusive health spa resort, Ban Ing Nam's facilities may not be accepted by all Westerners as fully up to par with the facilities expected. Things they are missing in their facility offering are a big grand pool and detailed finishing in the bathrooms (can see the pipes under the sink and shower kind of chalky).

If they would be able to provide a few very special demands of guests coming to this type of specialty health spa I would be even more impressed than I already am. For instance flat screen televisions and a fresh flower and a towel folded into a shape on the bed. Although guests have limited personal time and would probably spend very little time in their room anyway, the look and feel of the rooms would be greatly uplifted with such a modification. Giving the room a more nuanced, modern feeling is something that goes a long way in the memory of the guest.

Lastly I noticed torches in every room, which may be convenient and perhaps maybe fun on a campsite, but in a resort with this stature/allure the paths should really be lit with nice outdoor lighting or even live fire torches (very exclusive, very nice). Live fire torches are usually not used in resorts, as there are oftentimes children around, however Ban Ing Nam caters only for adults and therefore the option to utilize such an exclusive tropical tool would be a very nice touch.

So to conclude my review of Ban Ing Nam I would like to say that it's a fantastically personalized experience. They cater for all your needs specifically. I lost more than 6 pounds in the one week. Just with a bunch of exercise, some relaxation and fantastic food. Would recommend to anyone who is considering a visit.

I stayed at Ban Ing Nam for 10 days in early Jan 2009. My main goal was to detox, re-charge and to kick start 2009 in a healthy way and i hope to continue that throughout 2009 and beyond - so far so good!!

The resort is in the countryside about 30/45 mins outside Bangkok and is on the banks of the branch of the Chaopaya River. It is a peaceful area and very picturesque, ideal for finding the balance between relaxation and exercising to get myself back into shape!

I enrolled on the weight management program, this involved a minimum of 2 hours exercise each day with a personal trainer and 3 low fat, calorie controlled meals. The exercise was hard but rewarding, the trainers were very friendly and professional and keen for you to achieve your goals - i actually enjoyed exercising - a big change for me!! The food was delicious, each meal is balanced based on your requirements, some thai, some western but all very healthy - i wish i could have brought the chef home with me!

The accomodation is very clean, well maintained and comfortable with satellite tv, safe and lots of drinking water provided free. Located around a central lagoon with lovely flowers and trees it is a very nice place to wake up!

The resort takes your health very seriously, i had consultations with a nutritionist, a Doctor specialising in exercise and a Cardiologist. All gave me good, clear relevant advice, this is also included in the final report which details your health information such as Blood pressure, weight, body mass index, body fat etc etc which is given to you when you leave. Overall the service from a health point of view is very comprehensive and confidence inspiring.

I had some treatments included in my package so i had massages at the well appointed Spa, these were perfect and all the staff there were well trained, knowledgable and very friendly.

Everyone at Ban Ing Nam was friendly, courteous and professional i enjoyed my time there very much and look forward to returning - but hopefully for a de-stress and relax, i hope to keep the weight off from now on!!

For a healthy and measured approach to your health i can fully recommend Ban Ing Nam.

Went here for 4 nights upon recommendation of my brother. The rooms were a generous size and were quite clean, the restaurant also served quality food and a strong breakfast was included. all the staff were terrific and a pleasure to deal with.
Great location as it was very close to some great restaurants too.
some of the timber work needs repairs, like the jiggly stairs.

The only negative was the pool wasn't cleaned regularly enough.

Ban Ing Nam is truly an extraordinary place. The entire facility and programs offered are oriented towards fitness and weight-loss, but my wife and I enjoyed staying here and we are of normal or perhaps above average fitness levels. The excellent service and personal attention of the staff are unparalleled. The accommodations, while simple, have an elegant functionality. The meals are a delight and surprise. The fitness programs are fun, enjoyable, and well structured. The spa and massage rival those one would find in any large five-star hotel. The environment is rural and bucolic (do follow their advice about mosquito repellant!), but accesible to a modern shopping mall, and, with some planning, central Bangkok is an easy day trip. I just wish that the gym had been more fully equipped: a larger/heavier set of weights, a mutlifunction weight machine with lat pull down, etc. would have been great. Also, a larger selection of English television channels (more than just 2), more modern televisions, more consistent wireless internet, and better water pressure in some of the rooms would have perfected the accommodations. Despite the few shortcomings, we greatly enjoyed our stay.

We went to this Hotel, as a weekend getaway from the City of Bangkok, staying one night. We could not fault this Hotel for the price. The room we stayed in, was exceptionally clean and it was comfortable, with traditional Thai interior design. Hotel grounds consisted of flora & fauna (well maintained), a traditional Thai House with veranda overlooking river and a dipping pool. Nearby river walk, leadings to local market, was a plus and we walked there post breakfast. No faults really, but agree the pool could be better maintained, as it is such a nice part of the Hotel.

Bungalow with neighbourhood, peaceful place in a garden with a lake in sight.
Quiet place to stay but difficulty sometimes to enjoy the balcolny for lack of privacy and sometimes music coming from neighbours, conversations on their balcony also early in the morning.
The staff is helpful, attentive that makes the difference.
The pool is small and often occupied by children.
The breakfast is acceptable.
Room is ok

Stayed numerous times, rooms are clean and food is excellent.
The biggest draw is the rooms with Balconies and the Gardens.
The pool is normally clean and the staff attentive..
Would stay there again but have bad memories of a Ex that misled me in the area

We all found this very relaxing, we had 2 x 1 bedroom studios, they were a bit outdated but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend there. We were 2 couples on a buying trip so did a lot of travelling during the days and returned at night, with very high temps during the days the staff actually phoned us early afternoon and asked if we wanted the air conditioners turned on so we could return to cool rooms, service was great. Breakfast wasnt too bad and the gardens are nice, pool needed a good clean but the broad walk along the water front was great to sit and relax of a night. Some great restaurants close by as well, Riverview Wine was really tops for food and having a few drinks
