Have just returned from 3 nights at Bammuru Plains what a wonderful experience. Flew from Darwin with Chartair wonderful scenery. On arrival at the homesteads airstrip we were met by the lovely Chrissy for the trip to the camp along with 2 other couples. It’s was hot so the cold towel and welcome drink was much appreciated on our arrival at the camp. You only have to look at the pictures from others to see what a wonderful location this is. Whilst we are not bird enthusiasts we were amazed and exited by the bird life around us, seeing a Jabiru sitting on her nest high on a tree was an amazing sight. The wetlands have to be seen to be believed truely an amazing adventure. Great staff, special shout out to Chrissy, Matt and the very excitable Ji we learnt so much from these 3 from wild life and flora and bush tucker ( make sure you try the green ants).. thanks also to Justin for keeping us all organised…
Just spent three brilliant nights at Bamurru Plains lodge and it was great. A little hot at times and probably worth a little more investment in making the rooms air conditioned at peak times given that three are already. Heard some awful feedback about bad behaviour from children prior to our arrival which would have turned us off had we known. Apart from that the staff were fantastic and the area just brilliant.
This was a great experience. The waters are receding so the bird life is concentrated in smaller areas and the variety of birds was amazing. A full day trip to Kakadu was part of our itinerary and while it was a long hot day it was so worth it. We flew by small plane to Jabiru and then met the air conditioned vehicle for the tour to Ubirr Rock and the rock galleries before taking a boat trip on the Alligator River with an indigenous boatman/guide. I’ve never seen so many crocodiles and they were all pretty big. Back at Bamurru Plains the boat ride on swim creek was one of the highlights of our stay. So many birds gathered in big groups including jabiru and brolgas and of course the magpie geese and whistling ducks and jakanas. The sunset safaris with drinks and canapés were terrific too and our last evening we went to an area called Pandanus point. The concentration of birds was just superb. Even white breasted sea eagles which we saw in a couple of areas. The food was first class. Prepared by experts. Staff are friendly and keen to please everyone.…
Part of the Luxury Lodges of Australia group. You can get to this place either by a charter flight or drive. About 1 ½ hours on a good dirt road in the dry season. Tom Tom and Google Maps are no help. Need to follow their instructions. We drove as we went to Katherine, Kakadu and Jabiru so we had a car. There is no telephone reception and no Wifi or Email so you are on your own. The wildlife is amazing especially the huge numbers of Magpie Geese, not seen anywhere else. The activities that you partake in are very special. Knowledgeable staff and excellent meals. The accommodation is fantastic with floor to ceiling mesh through which you can see what is going on but the pesky bugs and mozzies have hard time getting in. All in all an excellent place to get away from it all.
You can have the best place, beautiful food and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and Bamurru is easily all of these. What truly makes it fantastic is the staff: how this collection of individuals moulds together in the most unified team is a true credit to you all. We will remember our time here forever in the most incredible way. Thank you for all.
This was our first excursion in to lodge experience so we were not really sure what to expect. We need not have worried the level of service was outstanding. We were well cared for and the while place seemed to run like a well oiled machine without any obvious fuss or hassle. The staff (guides) were all super friendly and knowledgable and clearly loved their jobs and passed on their love of the land and the life/. Highly recommended
What a fantastic and unique way to explore this coastal floodplain of the Northern Territory. This is a safari Australian style! Glamping in style with the focus on being able to view the wildlife and surrounding bush and floodplains. The beds are comfortable with a quirky bathroom attached. The activities include airboats, cruising, safari drives and quad biking for those who wish. Connection to nature is at the forefront of this adventure and the knowledge of the staff is second to none. The dining was very enjoyable, with the varietybif food and wine exceptional. All dietary requirements considered. The long dining table gave the opportunity to meet others and reminded us of our African safaris. At no point are you rushed with afternoon down time to relax by the pool. If you enjoy birdlife and wildlife you won't want o miss the photographic opportunities. We recommend that you stay the full three nights or more to enjoy the full experience. We will be back!!…
Connecting with Nature & enjoying Life’s simplicity seem easier here. Relax & enjoy the airboat ride watching the Buffalo romp thru the wet lands & Water Lily’s or the crocs lifting their heads to make the NT experience complete. Stunning bird life. The staff at the farm really enjoy the work & shows in the dedication to guest service. Spacious Clean Room & rustic ensuite was ample for a glamping style stay, no a/c but that was fine as weather was perfect in may so fan was enough. Food was homely & exceptional, The long table dinners & company very entertaining. Pool area was a great hangout to read or chill. Not a fan of flying, but the 30 min one prop flight in & out was very scenic & worth the extra cost. Travel lite & casual as not much required here. Book min 3-5 nites & organise the tours once at the farm, or like us you may not get the full value from the adventure.…
I can’t say enough great things about this place! It was truely breathtaking! The staff were wonderful and we totally didn’t want to leave! If you ever get the chance to stay here you won’t be disappointed.
We simply loved everything, but most of all the amazing people running the whole lodge (rangers, chefs and staff). The best human and wildlife experience ever. Definitively the place where you want to spend a couple of days with family or friends.
