Detailed Reviews
I stayed here for one night (corporate booking), due to nearby work. I was filled with dread when I saw I was booked at a hotel. When I booked in, I found the rooms to be quite modern, very clean and fresh looking. I was extremely impressed. I will definitely stay here again if I work in this area again. The room was very quiet. Super impressed!

Suggest a towel rack in the shower area rather than having to walk to the sink to get the towel.
Room was not cleaned, towels not changed and breakfast not available the second morning when we stayed for 2 nights and 2 mornings!

This hotel now takes the cake for the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. Forget that it is located in a pokie venue hotel. My fault as I should have done my homework. Location was good for where I needed to be but having said that the location is awful. It’s a crap hotel that has crap hotel accommodation. No wifi was hard to take, but having no internet reception was appalling. If there is no phone reception, PROVIDE WIFI!!! The room came with a breakfast pack containing a small packet of nutri grain, milk and a box juice. If you are going to provide this, then please provide a bowl to eat it with. Also there was no hairdryer as promised and when I enquired about one in the morning I was told that I needed to come down to the main hotel (drinking/pokie) area and get it! The room is small and unclean. It is unsafe and awful. Most rooms have shared facilities however thankfully mine did not. I stepped over a syringe in the hallway on my way back to my room. Charming!!! I was scared the entire night and did not sleep. The noise level and the calibre of guests staying here was unacceptable. The hotel itself is open until 7am. Never stay here! Ps. Check in was terrible and unprofessional. I should have left then and there. If I could give it no stars I would.

Came from Qld for a Funeral and we had already checked out of one Motel,as it smelt awful and decided to stay at The Ashley for a night. The room was not ginormous but very cosy, awesome warm blankets and to my suprise the tiling in the bathroom was outstanding what appear to be non slip tiles, well thought out. Fresh paint smell was still present but really good rooms. Apparantley they had been done up five weeks prior to us staying their.
The meal that cost fifteen dollars was a well done rump i opted for with chips and salad. I must say this was the best Rump i believe I've ever eaten, well done yet still soft on the inside. If i could have any criticism it would be the staff although friendly dont seem to be in much of a rush to fall over them self to serve you. I had to wave someone down for service.
Overall my experience here was 10/10 and if I return to Melbourne again, this would be a place to stop and stay at.

We arrived at the hotel at 11am and was told to wait until 2pm.
They did not offer us a complementary drink or make us comfortable. They did however keep our bags. It was extremely noisy at night due to the pokies machines which only closes at 6am. Our sleep was very disturbed. I ordered a kids meal because their normal portions are far too big. They refused to give it to me saying I was an adult. I always order kids portions because I dont like wasting food. There are no lifts and you have to carry your heavy bags up and down two
flights of stairs. The staff are not very friendly. No hairdryer.

Just a weekend stay while in area on business. Room was very clean and recently refurbished, linen very clean, good tv and comforts including iron and board. Good food at the restaurant.
I however must mention a certain aspect. My vehicle was parked in rear car park, I went to it during day to get some gear, I noticed someone sitting in a car nearby, I returned to my vehicle later and found that vehicle was now next to mine with same person sitting at wheel. I immediately moved my vehicle to a position underneath a security camera. Later that day I noticed same man with friend appearing to place bets at the TAB, they weren't actually placing bets though, merely appearing to, then observing who was in the bars, they noticed me. Later that evening while walking back from the nearby woolworths I noticed a young lady also walking towards the hotel with a large wooden stick. When I looked at her she gestured towards two men near the hotel, who then laughed at her. It appears this young lady carry's a large stick where ever she goes to protect her self. She hid it in bushes next to her car. This is a very sad state of affairs when a good hotel premises and its patrons are threatened by people who seem to have no regard for normal standards.
The two men in question were African in appearance and under 25 y/o.
As seen widely in the media around Melbourne.

When getting into the room it was a little stuffy so went to opened the window and the top blind fell down, when we did get the blind open we had a lovely view of rubbish (also a needle) in the tiny area that only staff have access to (attached photos) but otherwise the room "seemed" clean and tidy from first glance, went and told the staff on and they were helpful and gave us a few free drinks and dinner on them. The next morning as I'm getting up the top sheet pulls back and I see the under side of the doona and it's stained with a lot of yellow patches some red stain possibly food (I'm hoping food) and a burn hole. At check out the manager on came to check my room so I could get my security deposit back and I went with him, showed him the doona and he saw the rubbish, he was very understanding and apologetic and refunded half the money for the hotel room. Even though it was a cheap hotel there are still standards that need to be followed. Overall the staff were nice, helpful and understanding but the cleanliness let the place down.

Slot machines, drunks and a bar as a check in desk. I asked the next morning if they would hold my luggage and the answer was "We're not a hotel, we don't hold luggages"
So people The Ashley Hotel is not a hotel!
