Thank you Fran and Ian for the amazing experience. From the accommodations to the fine dining everything was beyond our expectations. We stayed in The Woolshed Suite that is very spacious, nicely decorated, and spotless. We loved the 5 star dining experience literally in the middle of no where, wow! Our hosts were very passionate about sharing the history of...

Wiapoua Lodge in at the southern edge of the Waipoua Kauri Forest. Because it is so isolated, it is a bit "pricey"...but the lodging and especially the food make it worth the price. Ian and Fran are wonderful innkeepers. Ian is the "front" person and gives you excellent information on local things to do in the area. We were directed...

Loved our two nights in Waipoua with Ian and Fran. From the moment the pair usher you in the front door with afternoon tea, you know you will well cared for. Ian was a wealth of knowledge and has such a friendly, warm way about him, and Fran is magic in the kitchen. The villas are comfortable and private.

Thank you to Fran & Ian for a wonderful experience. Our stay was the perfect relaxing two night escape to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. The tranquility and stately charm of your property won me over instantly. The standout for me was the delightful warmth of the hosts and the welcoming refreshments on arrival. Who could resist tea served in...

We spent two nights in one of the luxury suites and had a wonderful time. Fran and Ian are vey welcoming hosts. Fran’s cooking was the best I tasted in all of New Zealand. High praise given that we ate in some memorable restaurants. Looking forward to another visit in the not too distant future.

We were only able to spend one night at this beautiful property- and are already planning to return! The lodge is beautiful with lovely luxury rooms. Every attention to detail has been met. Fran and Ian were fabulous hosts- quick to share knowledge of the area and give suggestions for local activities. And the food- oh the food! Fran is...

Spent a wonderful evening with Fran and Ian. The Suite was absolutely splendid; spacious, clean, extremely comfortable. The place you envision after a long day of travel to rejuvenate! Fran prepared a most delicious meal (really, you need to sign up for dinner at the Lodge) and Ian regaled me with all sorts of interesting information and stories about the...

Waipoua Lodge sells itself due to its fabulous location alone, however what makes it extra special is it's hosts. Fran and Ian went the extra mile in every way to accommodate our every need. They organised horseriding for my 20 year old daughter and helped me plan my own excursions into the magnificent Kauri Forests all around. The cooking is...

Thank you for your kind words and it was a pleasure to welcome you and your daughter to our historic homestead. We were delighted to be able to organise some authentic rural kiwi horseriding for you and only too happy to give you a black beer with which to climb our 130 year old macracarpa tree to enjoy the sun...

Waipoua Lodge is a little piece of luxury etched in history where you can experience true New Zealand hospitality whilst travelling Northland’s Twin Coast Discovery Highway. With the mixture of yesteryear in the old Kauri lodge, home to artefacts from the Kauri logging era, to the four acres of garden and tranquil bush walk surrounded by pasture and forest … you will be inspired and all within an easy 3 hour drive from Auckland. Host Ian offers personalised guided tours of the local area and hands on talks and demonstrations of the history of the ancient kauri and the early pioneers and gumdiggers.
