Un-powered site definitely worth it $100 difference for 5 nights of a powered one, Ive not got a grow house going sheesh me $10 is acceptable in saying that i like to support concil run parks & try & find a caravan park these days without permanents, impossible. Hope that never changes. Like all of us we can all use a bit of improvement from time to time but the scenery visually perfect 👍 staff good ppl.

We camped with our tent and despite being allocated the site nearest the office and park entry, found our stay was very quiet and more private than expected.

If you need to stay connected don’t come since there was no signal even though it is quite close to civilisation.

The amenities were clean and the location is very pretty.

Despite a few too many rules and a slightly overbearing park manager in the office, we would recommend this park for a relaxing few days away.

Very enjoyable weekend, Stayed for 3 nights in our Campervan. It was a large site. Within walking distance to the beach. Really nice camp ground with clean amenities. Went fishing. Very friendly staff. Will visit again.

Lovely location between Patonga Creek and Brisk Bay, with Broken Bay further out and the Hawkesbury emptying just around the next headland. Ideal for boaties and a nice beach for kids. However, lots of things wrong with the park, especially by modern standards. We booked our site on the day of arrival only to find they had messed up the booking and booked us in from the day before. In a busy place, this meant one night only. The road in from Umina is steep and narrow and winding. The sites have tired matting, covered in duck poo and no attempt seems to be made to clean it. There is some grass cover but no apparent fallowing of sites to allow regrowth. Toilets are clean and up to date but for such a number of sites, only three stalls for men seems too low. Laundry door wouldn’t open. Not suitable for big vans. Money has clearly been spent to improve some of the infrastructure of this Council park but a lot more thought needs to go into maintenance.

The camping grounds were good, but it’s the beautiful spot that is what your there for great fishing and relaxing. Beach on on side creek on the other. Staff were great and easy to deal with. Amenities blocks are clean and well maintained. Could live there permanently 😁😎

Hi all my review contains information on the place we stayed but also the adventure and circumstances that lead us there, so if you only interested in the actual place, my review might not be for you, also i write how i speak so dont expect some literal award winning review.

Been camping here since i was 2 with my family, brought the son along with some school mates + 1 other dad for an extended weekend Friday lunch to monday lunch, lovely people at the front office. I had actually hurt my hand a few days previous so i got out of all the pitch camp jobs and just helped unload the gear and then launched the boat, great to see 15 year olds, some former scouts pitch the camp, while you just chime in with some advice occasionally. It was good to get the boat into the water and be able to moor it near the ramp for the 3 days. They have boat ramp and also a carpark overflow were you can drop your trailer so no ones tripping over it all weekend. We were 4 sites back from the ramp so easy enough to keep an eye on the boat. Once we setup camp in the midday heat got some lunch on. We then had 2 car loads of 17 to 18 year old girls pull up in front us, with alot of camp gear and no idea. Well i watched them bumble about for a while then offered the services of my son and friends. the boys went over there and i was going to say erected their tents but lets just say they helped the young ladies out.
The Caravan park is on a spur with Patonga creek wrapping around the west and south, with brisk bay beach to east. Quiet with not to many sites, although those young ladies who were later joined by some other friends were asked to leave the next morning as they were quite noisy upon there return from the beach at 1am, in the warmer months on weekends there is a sercuity guard until 1am, cooler months fires allowed in fire pits. Staying the extra night Sunday you could hear a pin drop, just a few grey nomads and one other family in the park. My son seems to think the only thing noisy that night was my snoring. We would pay for the Sunday even if we dont stay the Sunday night and take advantage of having the full day there and take off early afternoon, evening. You see all these people madly packing up 8am Sunday morning seems crazy to me, if there Sydney based they will be home by lunch.

Toliet block was cleaned twice a day every day, The wifes and daughters joined us for Dinner Saturday night, The adults left the kids to cook bbq and went up to the patonga beach hotel for dinner. Wow the service was fast there food was out before you knew it. They had a band playing also. The big fella behind the bar is always quick with the beers. Fish and Chip shop next door too.

The actual caravan park has a store with ice, bread, milk softdrinks and CAFFE LATTES plus more (when i was young you wrote away to gosford council and organised your booking and they contact you letting you know the checked cleared and your site number upon arrival there was a water tank and toilet block so things have sure changed alot since 1980)

We went fishing in the boat out to Juno point and up the creek and didnt catch much but had a great time, Not to far from Sydney. We organised this weekend as a unplug unwind weekend and although we had power Patonga suffers from mobile black spot unless your with Telstra which was fine with us. It was approx $50 a night for 1 adult and 2 15year olds, wife and daughter ended up staying the saturday night, i think they charge like 20 or 28 for that. 30 metres to the creek and 100 metres to the beach.

Be warned the Cockatoos are very good at getting into containers we had our weetbix/cornflakes tupperware container broken into, our loafs of bread munched on and then left for the ducks, another camper had their camp pantry unzipped and veges munched on.

Go here and check out it for the day, they have BBQ's next to the creek for day visitors and shady spots in the south west corner of the creek, older kids can ride the tide out on airbeads from the creek then get off the mouth and run back and do it all again, beats the lines at wet n wild

We have stayed in this park many times over the last 30-40 years. Having read the previous reviews, I think the location, rather than the park is being raved about. There is no doubt that the village itself as well as the creek and beach allow for a relaxing and stress free break however the camping ground is no where near up to the standard of the price they charge to stay.
Unsealed roads, no drainage, no where to run the outlet hose from the caravan. The amenities (both male and female) were closed for cleaning between 9.30am and 11.45am because there was only one staff member working on a Saturday morning when the park was almost full. He had been stuck in the office taking money and making coffee so the amenities were out of action for the entire morning!
I believe they were closed again at 7.30pm for cleaning when parents are trying to shower their kids for bed.
All of this would be quite acceptable if you wanted to "rough it" for the weekend but this is the most expensive camping ground we have ever stayed in and Gosford Council needs to lift it"s game or drop it's price.

We stayed for 3 midweek nights during the April school holidays 2016 with 3 kids under 10 and had THE most relaxing time!
The campground is pretty basic with powered and unpowered sites but no cabins, jumping pillows, swimming pools however it does have a kids park and tennis courts. There is no necessity for a swimming pool considering the location of the park is on a corner where the Patonga Creek meets the ocean. The Creek is tidal and when the tide goes out there are islands of sand which the kids can paddle or swim out to so dont forget your boogie boards, surfboards surfmats, kayaks or any other floatation fun as the kids absolutely LOVE this creek which is WAY MORE FUN than a swimming pool.
Bring fishing rods too as everyone gets out and has a go at some stage.. we watched a lady fishing in the early morning from the side of the creek catch two large flatheads (one only to be eaten by a pelican when she was cleaning them) . Our kids caught a flounder and some Bream.. which were all thrown back but the fun was in catching them right?
There are lots of ducks and pelicans and other birdlife here but no kangaroos at this campsite.
We didnt bother to adventure out of the campground as we are familiar with the area but there are some lovely walks from the park into national park, or you can paddle upstream from the campsite if you want some real tranquility.
,Theres a pub with great food at the other end of the beach, also a fish and chip shop if you've got a fast food craving.
The Campground has a kiosk which stocks lollies, ice blocks and some essentials if youve forgotten them and is very well priced.
Another really cool thing about this particular campground is that (outside the summer months) you can have an open fire if you bring your own fire-pit (see website details for the type/size you'll need) Dont forget to bring your own firewood. You can find a lot of dry kindling on the beach but nothing big enough for a lasting burn .. also each campsite has a large geen camping mat to lay your tent / camper or whatever on.. keeps the wet from the ground from seeping up through your tent.
The entry to the showers and toilets is by entering a code and they are cleaned twice a day so generally are very clean. we were unfortunate enough to turn up when an unparented child attended the loos on their own and had obviously not been able to manage cleaning herself up which was pretty horrific but the sign on the toilets does have a sign saying no children under 7 to use the toilets without parental supervision..and THATS why!
In the evening, being on the creekfront site, there were a few teenagers hanging around in groups and doing what teenagers do with a bit of swearing and we were like ooh great... but they didnt hang around for long and we had a plan to put on some loud Barry Manilow music to scare them off should they have decided to plant themselves there for the night.
Kids on bikes.. make sure they wear helmets and beware.. we saw a few upended kids (and had one ourselves) due to most of the little roads being unsealed (kids skidding on the loose gravel ouch!)
We are with telstra and had excellent phone / ipad coverage
Staff were very friendly and accommodating..especially Michelle at the kiosk
all in all a great little trip, very well priced and not too far from home and we will be back again soon so see you there!

We stayed at this campsite in December 2017 in our camper van. Our arrival in reception at around 4pm was not entirely warm and the member of staff was functional in her job. At the time of check in, we debated buying an ice cream but my husband suggested that we set up the van and then come back to buy the ice cream. No comment was made by the receptionist. When we walked back to the van, she immediately pulled down the shutters in an agressive fashion and disappeared off, our chance for an ice cream was gone! There was no wifi available and we could not even get a mobile phone signal. The toilets were clean although there was not a lot of hot water for washing up. The site had been recommended to us highly, but we were very disappointed, although it's position was beautiful, which was presumably why we paid $48, we certainly did not get that value of service!.

We're touring Australia in a motorhome, we normally manage camp sites in the UK so we look for good quality sites.

This is an excellent site for a quiet few days, a bit of an interesting drive over the hill with bigger units, but well worth the drive for the spectacular scenery.

The peacefulness is improved (some would agree) by the lack of wifi, Internet access or even a mobile phone signal. Those who cannot be disconnected from the WWW for any length of time wouldn't be suited to this site.

The Facilities were surprisingly good, municipal and a bit older style but spotless, regularly checked and well cared for.

The park is beautiful, on the shores of the river one side and the beach the other, lots of opportunities for fishing, swimming, or just enjoying the beautiful setting. Lots of places for BBQ and a dedicated fish gutting area... The helpful staff couldn't do enough to help help and were friendly and very informative.

It is just a short walk to the hotel in the village which we believe is well worth a visit for good food.

We will return for a few days peace and quiet soon.

Sorry, I should have said “not that I can see and habing scanned the entire place there are absolutely NO signs, evidence nor designated areas suggesting fires are at all possible, however it does have electric BBQ’s and plenty of chances to play in sand or go over creek side where there is a small sandy pond type section protected by a sandstone ridge - looks perfect for toddlers.
