We stayed at the Black Swan and ate there on the evening .On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our room ,at the rear of the main building. The room was lovely and very clean .The room overlooking the restaurant kitchen gardens was a nice vista to relax before dinner . The tasting menu did not disappoint.Excellent at every...

The village of Oldstead is a tiny quaint little place situated within the national park. In all directions are views worthy of painting. It really is a beautiful location. The Black Swan itself if situated on the corner of a little lane and the 'main' lane through the village and just nestles there surrounded by a lovely garden with outdoor...

This restaurant with rooms is fantastically situated in a very scenic and quiet part of N Yorks. Rooms are very good. But if you have a huge bath in yours watch the water temperature, it takes an age to re-heat. Service excellent, very well informed. Cocktails a very, very acquired taste. Choose with care or avoid. They have recently won...

What can I say the place is adorable , our room in the villa was beautifully presented and the little touches made it a fabulous stay . The restaurant it self was delightful , the tasting menu and wine pairing was interesting and very different but also very enjoyable . Breakfast was also fantastic and the staff were friendly and...

Like most, I first heard of Tommy Banks' Michelin star pub / restaurant from 2016's Great British Menu. Having visited Adam Reid's 'The French' in Manchester, I looked forward to chalking off another of the winning chefs restaurants from my gastronomic bucket list. When we arrived at the remote venue, adorned with blossom trees and surrounded by the family farm,...

We spent the night here having had an excellent meal in the restaurant. We had the tasting menu, which was superb, but I think most of all we were impressed by the staff and their connection with the produce; almost everything seemed locally sourced and mush of it home grown. Our room was in what could have been a converted...

[This is just a review for the B&B, my evening meal is reviewed under the separate restaurant entry] Everyone who stays here is probably only here to have dinner at The Black Swan .. so, for most people, the B&B is probably very much second fiddle to the evening meal. Having said that, the rooms are still very pricey so...

My husband and I went for the Saturday Lunchtime Menu, kindly bought by our son and his family for Christmas. What a wonderful dining experience!!! Every course was amazing and was explained in detail by Tommys mum. The food was outstanding. Could not fault anything. Can't wait to go again. Chris and Derek

Despite the fact that I eat a predominantly vegan/pescetarian diet, this was no problem at all for the chefs at the Black Swan. The 9-course personalised taster menu was beyond delicious with extraordinary flavours in exquisitely presented vegetables, fruits and fruits of the sea. From the rhubard schnapps based cocktail to start to the monkfish, Hispi cabbage with Hen of...

This is my review for the room that we stayed in as part of our package experience whilst visiting the Black Swan at Oldstead, and breakfast the following morning. I have reviewed the evening taster menu and meal under the restaurant at the Black Swan heading. We arrived just after 4 pm for check in. We knew we were in...
