My daughter treated me to a few nights away fro my 80th birthday. Oh what a treat the Hide was! Apart from being extremely clean, the accommodation is so well appointed and comfortable. One of my best memories is of sitting in the lounge on the comfy settee with a freshly brewed cup of tea in hand, looking out of the big window over to the dam and watching the kangaroos come down for a drink. I was so comfortable and had the best sleep in one of the Queen size beds. This farmstyle accommodation is perfectly situated on a very quiet country road at the base of Mt Franklin, only a short drive to Daylesford. Thank you to the owners, Sue and Lisa, for making my birthday such a memorable one.

My husband and I just spent a delightful five nights in the Studio at The Hide at Mt Franklin and nothing could have been more pleasant and comfortable. The cottage was supplied generously, and the owners/hosts have given much consideration to making their guests feel at home, and comfortable in every way possible. The kitchenette was well equipped, more than adequate to our needs. In addition, they plied us with information about nearby wineries and restaurants that were spot-on -- we were greeted with warm welcomes. But no need to leave the property for entertainment: numerous kangaroos make their morning and evening grazing rounds through the fields around the pond outside our windows--unruffled by the 7 resident cows who are also grazing alongside the pond. Black Angus and Belted Galloways add just the right color contrast to the pale hay pastures! Even two days of rain and strong winds didn't detract: we settled into our cozy quarters --with a fire in the stove and Sue's charming and highly accomplished paintings on the walls for company -- and enjoyed watching the sweeping landscape absorb the attack. The Hide is a real winner and its excellent reviews are well deserved. We can't wait to return!

My husband & I spent three days @ The Hide over New Years. It was the first time we've taken our dog on holiday with us, and it was perfect.
Firstly the accommodation is very comfortable. There is a small kitchen that had everything we needed. The bedroom is large, with a comfortable bed. The bathroom is spotless, water pressure in the shower is good. There is a day bed for reading your book or just looking out over the hills, watching the cows and kangaroos. Lots of books and DVDs are provided so you'll find something to watch or read. Outside there is a small table and chairs so you can look out over the dam. A really great way to start the day is to have a leisurely breakfast outside watching the kangaroos on the hill.
Secondly it's a perfect set up to give your dog the best holiday its every had! There is a fenced in run so you dog can sit outside & watch the world go by. Our dog played with the resident kelpie in the dam everyday. She loved swimming & playing, and then spent all day sleeping in the sun or relaxing while watching the world go by.
Thirdly, it's a short trip into Daylesford and the surrounding areas. It only took us 10 minutes to get into town, where there are lots of great places to eat. Many of these places had outdoor areas & were very dog friendly.
Lisa and Sue are the perfect hosts, very friendly and with so much knowledge about the area. Sue is a very talented artist and her art adorns the walls of The Hide.
I would highly recommend you stay @ The Hide when you are in Daylesford.

We lost an entire nights sleep due to a bashing metal-on-metal sound against the shed where the apartment is housed. It was a nightmare. I complained and was treated like a liar and a fraud because I had the audacity to asked for a refund for that lost night.
If you are contemplating staying at this property, ensure there is no wind forecast. And please be courteous to the owners so as not to incur their wrath.

If you want peace and quiet in the Australian country side but not too far from urban comforts this is your place. Kangaroos at dusk, echidnas and birdsong in the morning. The rooms and equipment are spotless and the beds are comfortable giving a good sleep even for someone who usually sleeps badly.
The hosts are very helpful and make useful suggestions about things to see and do.
A great no fuss spot for family and dog.

We couldn’t have wished to have had a more delightful holiday. We were welcomed warmly by the most generous hosts/owners who have clearly put their heart and soul into this accommodation. It’s a great way to experience a country setting while in comfortable, cosy accommodation. It was peacefully quiet and obviously well insulated as we were cool on the hot days but lovely and warm in the cooler evenings. Only a short 10-15min drive to Daylesford. Even closer to Hepburn. A great stop if wanting to explore the many walks or wineries around the area. A real bonus was being allowed to take the family dog.

Thanks so much for being the first to review our new accommodation at The Hide @ Mt Franklin - The Hide Homestead B&B. The Homestead offers beautiful accommodation for 2 with a luxury queen bed dressed in fine french linen. The living room faces north and has lovely views of Mt Franklin. We provide homemade breakfast provisions and our guests love the fact we don't have cooking facilities because they can experience the wonderful food and wine on offer in the area. The original Hide Studio is self contained and we allow dogs. So now there is a great choice of accommodation at The Hide @ Mt Franklin.

We stayed at The Hide @ Mt Franklin for a spring long weekend getaway. We chose The Hide as it is dog friendly and is also set in a nice quiet setting. It’s a short drive to Daylesford, Hepburn Springs and many other local attractions although we just came for the peace and quiet. The house is cosy, comfortable and clean with a great outlook across a paddocks and a dam. Great for day dreaming and afternoon naps on the couch. If you are into walking or running, the Dry Digging’s section of Goldfield’s Trail also passes the front gate of the property. Lisa and Sue are fantastic hosts, providing local chocolates on arrival, fresh free range eggs and a freshly home baked sour dough loaf to enjoy during our stay. If we are looking to stay in the area again we would be very happy to stay with Lisa and Sue again.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write your review. It is great that you really enjoyed your stay at The Hide. So many people find it really relaxing and peaceful. Spring is particularly beautiful this year. The grass is green and the blossom is gorgeous. Our wisteria has just burst into bloom and with the lavender beside it we have a purple heaven in front of our house. We hope to see you back again soon to explore more running tracks - thanks for the maps.
