Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I would take 7 days here over a European Holiday. I came to living valley without any expectation. I needed some time out and a restart. The staff are so welcoming and warm. They show genuine care for everyone's well being. The retreat itself was so comprehensive and nurturing. The person who arrived was not the person who left. Living Valley changed my life. I cant wait to go back.

My two weeks at Living Valley have been incredible….even better than last time (which was also great). I attended the Mental Health program and it exceeded my expectations. The location, facilities, food, and treatments are all amazing but it is the staff, every single one, who made my experience truly life-changing. LV staff are genuinely caring, fun, diligent, and kind. My goal was to leave alcohol and other bad habits out of my life....and with the help of the onsite psychologist and naturopaths, I am ready to return to work and life, but with a completely different mindset ....a healthy body, mind, and spirit. It is the best money I have spent, an investment in myself....and an investment that will positively impact others in my life. I feel free and full of inner joy. Thank you Living Valley. I hope to return again.

1. My introduction to L.V.S. Retreat - 2022 I was 1st introduced to L.V.S in Aug/Sept 2022 by my niece who has been coming here many times. I was supposed to go to another Health Retreat with a girlfriend, but the sound of L.V.S impressed me more and I am so very pleased I made the effort to come. This trip was to improve my declining 98 yr old health/body - Black mould in lungs, Feet & Digestive conditions. The day I arrived I was driven to my accommodation by the lovely staff in a buggy as I had problems walking. The next day & the introduction to the most amazing, Professional Naturopath, nurse, chiefs, treatments & other caring staff. L.V.S. has some of the best, professional, caring people that did everything they could to help me. My health started to improve so I extended my 7 day stay another 4 days. The results were that I could walk again (not as good as I could 5 years ago during my Bushwalking hiking days) but at least there was a great improvement and I felt good about myself & what I had achieved. On my return back home I continued (as best I could) to keep up with what I had been doing, eating & had learnt at L.V.S.R & also started saving towards my return trip the next year. Thank you to all at L.V.S.R Neta H.

The most attentive, kind, professional staff you’ll ever find. The management- focused more on the dollar. Half our group would never return again. After 12 retreats overseas- this doesn’t provide the value for money you find off shore.

Response from Gary Martin, Owner at Living Valley Health Retreat
Responded 22 Oct 2023
Thank you, Amanda. Living Valley is a not-for-profit organization wherein the management is totally focused on providing an ultimate healing experience for every guest. Guest numbers average around twenty each week. However there were only four 7-day guests participating during your week. This was most unusual and the lowest number in over twenty years. It was a glitch, as future weeks are all heavily booked up. We understand that this low number did affect the dynamics, and for this we apologise. The Management has only ever focused on the dollar in order to ensure the continuance of the highest level of personal care from a team of attentive, kind, professional staff. We hope that you will give Living Valley another opportunity to bless your life.

The remote beautiful location was simply stunning - surrounded by fresh country air yet feeling part of a "village community" on the beautiful grounds. The owners and all of the staff could not do enough to meet everyones needs. The attention to detail and personalisation of the care - -the food - the education talks - the daily routines - so much from that week will stay with me and guide me for the rest of my years as well as insights and memories from the staff and some incredible people i met on the journey. Thank you - Forever grateful for a taste of this paradise I was lucky enough to experience. I could not recommend more highly for anyone in need of a "life reset" or who simply needs to focus on their own health and wellbeing for a bit to get away from life's stresses so you are stronger to face things and be there to support others on your return- you will not walk away disappointed from this experience.

This is not only a personal journey of rediscovery but an important place to rekindle your health, realign your mind and take a discovery of learning. My experience at LVS was over 7 days. It was amazing. It was challenging and most of all overwhelmingly rewarding. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome. They are great at working together to make the stay feel personal and focused. The food was outstanding and the detox (3 days) was built into the program as it helps you kick-start your changes.

I came to Living Valley as a last resort. After three years of dealing with burn out x long covid x chronic fatigue, I couldn’t function anymore. A reset at Gwinganna is great, but this is where you go to get serious about your health. The glowing Trip Advisor reviews are what finally convinced me to book a stay, so if you’re on the fence, just do it. They keep the group numbers small (20-ish) so you get to know everyone, it really is like self-care summer camp, not Nine Perfect Strangers. (You can also choose to do your own thing and have meals brought to your room, which helps when you are detoxing and just really want to sleep). My amazing naturopath Kirsten helped me do a deep dive and sort through all my previous test results and symptoms to find out exactly what was going on and how to turn it around. Then I focused on healing treatments – especially lymphatic massages with Kellie and massages and healing sessions with Gill (both of them are fantastic). I added in counselling sessions with the fabulous Didier and no review of Living Valley would be complete without mentioning the Hosts with the Most, the dynamic duo that is Mat and Itai. They are the LV equivalent of Google – if you need to know anything, you ask them. Cheerleaders, camp counsellors, besties, two phenomenal humans and the beating heart of Living Valley. All of the staff were amazing from booking with Cathy, Bob’s airport pickup, Jess (& Nala!) and her beautiful singing voice, to the kitchen Queens – Rowan (thank you for the special fire pit chai), Will, Phoebe, Bec – thank you for inspiring someone who hates cooking to get back in the kitchen and thank you to Gary, Debbie and Giselle for creating such a special place. I think the best recommendation is the fact that so many people are return guests and now I get to be one of them. Yay!

Before I came to Living Valley for the first time in May 2023 I was about 120kg limping with sever OA in my left hip. I needed to get a cabin close to the main areas as I could not walk without the aid of a walking stick. I came to lose some kg's for my hip replacement surgery (my ortho saying anyone with a BMI over 30 had a 400% increased risk of post operative complications- mine was 36). At the end of my first 2 week stay, I lost about 7kg and threw away my walking stick. My hip is still bad as there's no cartilage left) but I can walk as my PT at Living Valley gave me exercises to strengthen my thigh muscles which used to ache unbearably. I've booked in for my op having lost another 7 kgs on my second stay in July as I'll be down close to my goal weight of 100kg and under 30 BMI. Thank you to the founders Garry and Deb Martin and the great caring staff at Living Valley from the kitchen to naturopaths and PT's as well as a supportive cohort of other 'pilgrims' all treading the path to better health and nutrition. God Bless you for helping me on my 'progress'.

My first stay at Living Valley was one of those rare experiences where you go in with high expectations, but they get totally exceeded. The team at Living Valley are outstanding. Each of them are incredibly talented, and they go above and beyond to ensure that every guest enjoys their experience, and achieves their goals. The layout of the retreat, and the structure of the programs, are both very well designed to help guests reduce stress levels, and improve their health and fitness. I can't speak highly enough about my first experience at Living Valley. It definitely won't be my last.

I now understand why all the staff are always positive, because it’s super satisfying to help everyone achieve greatness. They provide the information we need or where to go. They want to help. I received their help in more ways than one: positive encouragement, understanding my needs and goals during every encounter, not just for the week. Always brightening my day with a smile. Sharing a laugh with me and the group. Explaining a task and being incredibly patient with all of us, even when we experienced fog brain. I really needed this support to get me through this week. I thought multiple times of quitting, going home, or sneaking off to a pub, but I didn’t because I had these people that supported me.
