Stayed only one night. Rooms are very clean and neat, old style motel, but has been refurbished Coffee cart out the front does a roaring trade and nice way to start the morning Easy walk along waterfront esplanade to downtown Warners Bay which has a great choice of cafes and restaurants to choose from

Nice spacious room. Comfortable and on ground floor. Close to the beach and shopping centre. Staff welcoming on arrival. There is a coffee van at the front of the motel which commences trading early mornings which can be a little noisy.

We line in Egland and were visiting family who live in the area and had initially booked into a different motel, however, on arrival there it became apparent that it was very sub standard. We had passed the Esplanade on the way so with fingers and toes crossed we landed at their reception with such a serious look of desperation that the lovely receptionist took pity on us! She managed to fit us into the motel for two nights, however, it was fully booked for the other seven. Just when I thought we would be looking for a comfy bench for the rest of our stay, she advised us that she had a two bedroomed apartment available for the rest of our stay! We were the first couple to be staying in it. The room at the motel was very comfortable, clean, and well maintained. There was good attention to detail and I would definitely recommend. The apartment was over three floors and very well presented. It was clean, tidy, private, and perfect for what we wanted. A home from home. We could not have asked for better. Although we were very pleased with the accommodation, the reason for writing this review is because of the fantastic service we received. Both ladies we spoke to were so helpful. There was no way we could have stayed in our pre booked motel and without their help I don't know what we would have done. They turned what was a very upsetting situation round and I cannot thank them enough!

Lovely location, comfortable firm bed and high quality linen. Rooms have been renovated to be modern and extremely comfortable. Balcony rooms have added bonus of lakeside views. Motel has a good sized decking and pool area with a BBQ for our stay. Entertaining chefs manage the teppanyaki restaurant - delicious food. A coffee van is set at front of motel - it’s where the locals come for coffee - excellent selection. There is easy access to esplanade walk/cycle track, maybe 15 mins. I started walking and just couldn’t stop - stunning views, walkers & anglers offering greetings. This may just be the happiest community I’ve been in! There is even free yoga and massages in front of Warners Bay shops on the waterfront.

The motel premises only are attended during usual business hours. Unfortunately this leaves the way open for racous teenage parties in the evenings which are really noisy and disruptive. There is no number to call about this as no one in attendance from 4pm …. except the police which we weren’t keen to do as we and our car are left in a vulnerable position by ourselves. On top of that the room we had was unusually poky with flyscreens falling out the windows and not fitting properly. Also unbelievabley they don’t have fitted sheets and the sheets they do have don’t fit the length of the mattresses even if you ask for the next size up … so the bedsheets unravel very easily and knot up. There is also no numbered parking bays so my elderly mum and I could never park near our room despite there should be enough bays. The staff when in attendance are very friendly though

Got to say this place is the cleanness and most friendly place I have stayed. The room a nice and spacious beautiful and clean. You can walk into your room and go WOW. You can smell the freshness. The staff was amazing seeing such a beautiful young lady working there Lilly you could not be more helpful. It was lovely to see you for our whole 3 day stay. With a smile and always asked how we was going every morning and what we was up to for that day. It was lovely to know people still care. And to come back after a day out our room was made up and all fresh again like we hadn't been there 🙃. Honestly this place is amazing from the moment you arrive reception was so easy to check in and grab our key. Beautiful waterfront straight across from this place was amazing spent the afternoons walking. And the views and sunsets were just WOW. BIG 5 FROM US we will be back. Thank you to Lilly and Tanya for making our stay fell so lovely and safe.

The motel room was spotlessly clean, spacious and well appointed with quality fittings. There was ample space for the table and chairs.. The shower was excellent with plenty of hot water and large fluffy towels. Staff at the Esplanade Motel were welcoming and most willing to assist in any way. Staff could not be faulted. There is a Japanese Restaurant at the Motel - their staff also were excellent and the food plentiful and delicious.

Stayed one night at the Esplanade Motel while my husband was in hospital. The staff were welcoming and friendly and check in was easy. The motel has recently been renovated. The room was lovely, clean and tidy as well as nicely appointed. Nice pool area with BBQ and seating. There is also a Japanese Restaurant which was well patronised. It is great that there is a tunnel under the road just near the motel so I went for a lovely walk along the edge of Lake Macquarie and watched the sunset. The room is well appointed with a microwave, crockery and cutlery, smart TV and a very quiet air conditioner. There is a coffee van at the entrance of the motel and there coffee is great.

I always like to find the best things to review but sometimes it's the little things that disappoint. We stayed for 3 nights (July 2022). Check in was via a key box which was fine as we came in quite late. Parking spots are not allocated in front of room but we were able to get one reasonably close to unpack the car. There were no owners on site as the office is only open during office hours. First impressions were great. Our first comment was that it looked really nice. When we hit the shower there was a fitting on the wall to house a soap tray however it was missing. We found it a draw in the cabinet. Rather than put the soap on the floor we laid the soap dispenser on the floor and placed our cake of soap on that. Next morning we were awoken just after 7am by kids running up and down the path in front of our room screaming at the top of their lungs. We lay there for a while and hoped it would subside however no such luck. I went to the door and asked if they could please play somewhere else. No such joy but a parent heard me and came over to tell the kids to get inside. No fault of the Motel owners with that but it's a reminder of the difference between a motel and a hotel. Especially when the owners are not on site. Next morning I went to the office to tell them about the soap holder. The lady said that she would attend to it. Nothing happened from then until the time we checked out. If I had have had a screw and screw driver it would have been fixed in a jiffy. So obviously they don't have maintenance staff. Next was that our water was turned off at an inappropriate time. They had a plumber working at the front but staff gave no warning that the water would be turned off. We went to report the issue with the water and the receptionist said that the plumber turned it off (thanks for letting us know in advance). More in the bathroom. The shower screen leaked into the passageway and was wet across the passageway. The cleaners did the room but didn't even bother wiping it up. The bed was made and short sheeted - thanks for that. I'm not laughing. We put the bedside lamp on, hopped into bed and the light went out. Then we found that each time we sat up it went back on again. We noticed that by touching the bed head the light went out. A quick investigation revealed that the plug was being compromised by touching the bed head. Oh and back to the bathroom, there was a sickly foul drain smell whenever the shower was used. So as I said, "it's the little things". They compound into a not so nice experience.

Response from Janene Lowe, General Manager at The Esplanade Motel
Responded 16 Aug 2022
Hi Ian Im very sorry to hear that you had several small issues that left your stay lacking. The plumber on that day was addressing an issue at the Restaurant and unfortunately failed to advise us but I do apologise. The soap holder has been fixed but yeas should have been done the day you mentioned it. Ive investigated the water leak from the new renovated shower recess and the lamp and they have been rectified. Having recently renovated these rooms there are still a few shortfalls that we are working through. I hope you will give us another try. Maybe try a balcony room next stay so there are no children to disturb your quiet time. Thank you for the feedback.

I stayed at the Esplanade Motel for a night. Very pleased with the after-hours check in process. The place was super clean and comfortable. The mattress and the pillows comparable to 5 star hotels. The only not so great feedback is that their Wi-Fi connection was through some company based in Amsterdam who will provide you access only if you connect through your social media. But for this one thing, it was truly an amazing place. Lakefront and family friendly. Highly recommend.
