I selected Chateau Penfrat based on Trip Advisor reviews and everyone was spot on. We arrived down a long winding road and was met by the owner's dog. The owner was upstairs and hadn't heard us come in, the the dog happily went up and got him for us! We were warmly greeted by Patrick who was running the chateau... More

We booked as a result of a small article in the Daily Telegraph Magazine entitled "Best of 3 in Brittany" and oh boy, did they get it right. From the moment we arrived, we were made so welcome. Our large and spacious room overlooked the lawn leading down to the river; the bathroom was a really good size and the... More

We stayed for a long weekend and absolutely loved it. Our suite was amazing and decorated beautifully. The rooms was huge, and having his and hers baths and sinks was a great! Some small points would be a small bin in the lounge and replacing the water on a daily basis would be good. The property was full of charm,... More

My wife and I and two friends stayed 3 nights at Chateau de Penfrat in May. Our hosts, Patrick and Barbora were most hospitable and helpful and our accommodations were spacious, clean, airy and artfully furnished. We chose to have dinner in our first night there, and we were served a delicious meal of seafood and fresh asparagus and a... More

The hosts Barbora and Patrick made our 4 night stay memorable. We had a huge sitting room, bedroom, and magnificent ensuite. Breakfasts were delicious. The hosts even included us in their Friday "soirée"! Our suite looked out on water and moored boats. What a fantastic place from which to explore the Finistère coast and quaint villages. This venue has possibilities, but it needs work. My room smelled so moldy and mildewy that I could not sleep. The beds are very low and hard to get out of. Barbora seemed quite sweet, but disappeared as soon as we arrived. It is some distance from the nearest town, so be prepared to drive on back roads for dinner.... More

Dear Sarah, Having thoroughly investigated the matter, we came to following conclusions : 1°) indeed, we are not located downtown, that is why our guests come here 2°) Patrick is very disappointed as he tried his best to take care of you, as after interruption of her dinner with her family (living 2.500 miles away and coming once a year)... Although very difficult to find, the Chateau was very comfortable. the owners were welcoming and when we got thoroughly lost Barbora came to find us and guide us back. Gave excellent dinner recommendations at a local bistro. Our suite was lovely and comfortable with a view of the estuary. Good walking along the river. Very good breakfast.

Our suite was beautifully appointed and decorated with a view to the river estuary. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. We fell in love with this place and would love to return.
