Had a pleasant evening here last month with some nice food. The landlady was very friendly and chatted away as though we were regulars. Very nice spot, especially if you are staying on the Caravan Club site at Englethwaite Hall. Well worth the few miles drive.

Lovely welcoming. The food was delicious and lovely service. Child friendly. Serves food all day Saturday and Sunday. We will return again on another trip to dry beck farm. Suitable for any age. It really was a pleasant meal out

We were met by a very friendly, young barmaid and landlady Dawn could not have been more helpful. We enjoyed two delicious bar snacks, grilled ham and all the trimmings and I chose home made fish cakes from the starter menu accompanied by a bowl of chips. Nicely presented and breakfast next morning was cooked to order and excellent. Dawn...

Nice food though a little over priced, we have eaten here many times over the years but sadly probably for a while. On the last two or three occasions we have been the only ones in ( on a Friday night!) It's been chilly in the restaurant so eaten with our coats on, if I had one recommendation it would...

My wife, daughter and myself called in for a drink and decided to have a light bite. The waitress was very pleasant and friendly and took our food order. A few minutes later she returned, looking rather embarrassed, and told us the owner wasn't happy that we had chosen from the senior citizens menu and children's menu. We explained we...

Thanks for the feedback. I am pleased that you left with a smile and I hope that you enjoyed your meals. We do have a Light Lunch menu and I was just a little surprised that you ordered from the menus which clearly state they are for Seniors and Children. I'm sorry that we seemed to have some crossed-wires on...

I arrived at the hotel on the recommendation of a competitor in the village who said, (after phoning ahead to check for room availability) that I would not be disappointed... and I certainly wasn't!! A few previous reviews seem to be slating this hotel for no other reason than they think they are on that awful Four in a Bed...

Looked very nice on the website the reality was pretty terrible. The room was very tired the cupboard a hanger over the kettle! The ensuite was awful the basin was cracked the lino on the floor torn and dirty and the shower was a dribble. We could have just about stuck that out but for the fact it was the...

Popped in for lunch with hubby and 2 kids, menu was adequate plenty to choose from, typical pub grub which is what we were after. Kids both went for macaroni cheese with garlic breads off the kids menu, were a decent size and kids said it was delicious, they cleared their plates. Hubby had the gammon which was lovely and...

This is first and foremost a local pub with a nice looking restaurant that serves slightly overpriced food that is very tasty. Dawn the host could not be more welcoming and helpful and the same can be said for her staff. However the accommodation up stairs does not match the restaurant down stairs. On approach the stair carpet is dangerously...

I am pleased that you enjoyed the warm welcome we always provide here at the Duke's Head. We also pride ourselves in looking after our visitors well and going the extra mile, such as offering yourself lifts around the local area. On the décor, the downstairs has had the benefit of a refurbishment in recent times and we are often...

Sandwiches and drinks overpriced, not particularly value for money, had to wait quite a while for 2 sandwiches even when pub was empty. Would advise the owners to review their prices for food and drink if wanting to establish themselves as quality and value for Monet (2 small cokes and 1. Lime/soda =£5-50!)

“Ours was Room 5, with en suite shower room. It was very comfortable, spotlessly clean (like everywhere else in the hotel) with a 6ft bed and plenty of clothes storage. There was an extra blanket in the wardrobe, along with a hot/cold fan heater. Our room overlooked the road but was quiet. Rooms at the back would overlook the car park but there is a beer garden between the building and the car park. We didn't hear anything from about 10:30pm till 7:45am.”
