Under new management and we had a great stay. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. We booked to have dinner and the food was delicious! Staff were attentive but not pushy. Our room was very clean. Tea, coffee, biscuits and some complimentary water in glass bottles was very welcoming. Bed was comfortable, our room was at the front so there was some road noise but didn’t spoil our sleep in. Breakfast was also delicious and good portions. We managed to walk it off with a visit to Wakehurst Place nearby. Stunning grounds. Thank you to all the staff for an enjoyable stay.

The meal we had was good but the hotel was let down by the room, The Parlour. This room is lit only by velux windows which did not have blinds and there was a security light outside which shone directly onto the bed. Quite absurd. Thank goodness we were staying only one night. The breakfasts were in the end good with a wide choice but strangely they do not provide basics such as cereal and they could not provide coffee or tea with the excuse that the coffee machine was broken! We had the ask for milk to take back to our room.

Hi David, I do apologise for your uncomfortable stay in the Parlour. I can confirm however that the Parlour windows do have blinds and they absolutely do shut, in fact one of them was newly replaced last week. I would ask that if you ever have any issues like this again that you speak to a team member on site, and we will always be more than happy to help! Kind regards James

Avoid this place. On arrival the lock on the door was partly hanging off. We noticed there was no soap in the bathroom and asked a member of staff who had me follow them around looking in all the store cupboards admitting they didn't know where any of the supplies were kept. In the end we were given bottled shower gel and told to use that as soap for the sink. I have never stayed in a hotel which had no soap for a guest room even upon asking.
The room was grotty with stains on the carpets and the walls. The carpet had clearly not been hoovered in some time. The bathroom was tired, tiny almost unusable sink, the flush button on the toilet was broken.
This however was not the worst problem. The noise at night was ridiculous which led to a terrible night's attempt at sleep. We were on the ground floor and an interconnecting door made a loud noise whenever people were moving about which seemed to be around 12 and 1am and then from 3am onwards. The occupants in the room above got up at 5am and the floor boards were creaking as they moved around, and one could hear the shower/bathroom etc. This went on for at least 40 minutes. We realised later it was highly likely that this was people staying at the location for early flights from Gatwick.
At breakfast the service was efficient and food was good, however the usual issues (see my separate review of the restaurant which we visited the night before) prevailed with items being out of stock and these not mentioned until the point of ordering. If you know you don't have some key items say so when the menus are handed out rather than wait for the customer to attempt to order and then have to rapidly change to something that was in stock.
The only two good points were the bed was clean and comfortable and the shower was modern and good hot/water pressure. Although, the shower was exactly the same as at Premier Inn which offers a considerably better all-round experience...
We will not be returning.

Booked and paid for 2 rooms and 3 breakfasts. Rooms were tired and grubby and needed repair. Breakfast was totally non existent as Manager Lorna failed to open up, even the chef could not gain access to restaurant or Kitchen. Overnight emergency no we were given was not answered and now the company are not answering our request for refund of money for a failed service. We ended up along with several other guests having breakfast at a delightful pub down the road with great food and pleasant staff.

Arrived at the hotel at around 7:15pm, only booked it that day at 4pm ish. Paid approx £88 in full, as it was obviously last minute. Looked directly on their website and the price was the same so decided to book through hotels.com. On arrival the young man got our key and said there was £76 to pay and started typing the numbers on the card machine. Explained we had paid in full already. He went back into the office and printed a sheet out and wrote down £76 something to pay. We went back and forth showing him our confirmation and that we had paid in full. I even showed him their website which showed rooms still available for £88… so why would I pay another £76 on top of the £88 paid. He explained he doesn’t normally work at this branch. He said we could pay in the morning at 8am when the manager was back in. The reason for the stay was I was having an operation at the nearby hospital and would need to check out at 7am and either way, we was not paying extra. He also kept saying that expedia was showing we had remaining money to pay, however we didn’t book through expedia! After going back and forth he called the manager who said it was fine and we didn’t have to pay anymore. As you can imagine I was nervous and stressed for the morning anyway and this didn’t help. The room itself was very under average. Paint chipping off in many places. A big issue was that the toilet seat was hanging on for dear life, every time you used it, it felt like you were going to fall off! The bath filled up to the top while trying to shower. The corridors had an awful smell. Onto the few positives (ish). The bed was comfortable and we had a pleasant sleep. We had dinner in the pub/restaurant which was rather quiet, however the service was quite slow. The food was nice, my pie was a good portion and seemed homemade. My Husbands burger was nice however did resemble a children’s portion. The young man who checked us into the hotel served us and was pleasant and wished me well for my operation. Easy to find, lots of free parking. The room seemed clean and tidy. Overall, would not stay here again and unfortunately added extra stress onto an already stressful couple of days.

Good Afternoon, I am so sorry to hear about this! I hope your operation went well. The site has very recently come under new management and as part of that we are looking to get a full refurbishment done on the rooms. I was the manager that was called on your check in, I am sorry there was a confusion, the system sometimes takes time up update when paying in full online, however that information can be found elsewhere. the young man who served you is with us on a temporary basis for further training. This was a training oversight on my part, please accept my apologises for any confusion. If you are in a position to return in a few months, we would like to wow you with the changes we are going to make, we hope to see you again best wishes Gareth

Had an ok stay here last night. Conveniently placed for visiting family in the local area. Room very clean and well set out. However, a 'deluxe' room was expensive for a room with a very small double bed and very basic tea and coffee facilities.

If you're thinking of staying for more than a night, don't!! Firstly on the positive. I cannot fault the service from both the manager and waiting staff. The food and drink was in general good, (although half the menu was unavailable through unavailability of qualified staff) . Breakfast was OK too. The manager serving us throughout. However that's where the positives start and finish!! The room was tired to say the least with issues in the bathroom including a small sink that drained incredibly slowly, taps that dribble, towel rail didn't work, extractor fan broken and a shower head spraying water from the joint. Also the lamp in the bedroom didn't work. If you expect the room to be cleaned, towels replaced etc, don't be, as the excuse is the cleaner won't go in the room whilst you are staying in it!! We've stayed in places this year and last and this is the first time this excuse has been used to cover staff shortages. At best this is transit accommodation for Gatwick, at worst its simply worse than most budget chains, leaving us wishing we'd stayed at a Premier Inn at half the price. We paid over £100 per night for a superior double, which we realised, after our visit, that we didn't get and we were given no offer of a discount for all the problems, which we raised when we were there. It's clearly difficult times in the service industries at the moment with massive staff shortages but if they are not careful many will go out of business because the customer experiences are far below par. Discerning customers will only put up with so much!!

awful, don't know where to start! having to drag cases through the restaurant to check in. Room was grubby and need of attention, no hair drier, no coffee pods but hundreds of sweetener packs??! Broken window blinds. We had a meal and the waitess forgot to put one of the starters through so had to wait for it after the other person had eaten theirs. Not her fault, she was the only one working hard whilst I expect it was the landlord/ manager who was sat in the bar stuffing his face! No one manning reception from 11pm to 8am, thats fine as we were told when we checked and i asked if we needed to book breakfast. We were told breakfast was available from 8am and to just come over to the restaurant. But at 8.10 no staff apart from the cleaner and chef. My husband had to ask for a hairdryer by going in the kitchen and the chef getting it! then noone to see guests for breakfast. Saving grace was Billy the chef who saved the day and was the one and only redemption for a dreadful stay. He got us coffee, cooked us breakfast and all between speaking to other guests, ordering taxis for them whilst all in his chef whites. We felt so sorry for him and he needs to be recognised for his caring and thoughtful manner whilst staying professional. Please put Billy in charge and them we may come back!! otherwise never in a million years!

Stayed for 1 night, it was worse than faulty towers, the level of cleanliness was zero with dust everywhere. I paid £110 for a superior room so I really hate to think what a standard room is like. Had dinner in the restaurant which followed the theme of a hopelessly managed establishment, staff just not interested and as such service was abysmal. Had sticky pulled beef burger which sounded delicious but when delivered had a large piece of gristle which was the sticky pulled beef, I had to discard this as it was inedible. I would suggest that if anyone is considering booking a room or dining in the restaurant to think again coz it ain’t good.

Absolutely, we have stayed twice here before flying the following morning. just down the road from The Curious is APH parking, they provide a very good service too with regular shuttle buses between the secure parking venue and airport. both come highly recommended. We have stayed at CPP twice and intend to book again soon. Great
