I wanted a reasonably priced room in a central location and this is it! No stuffy or put on hotel...the staff are wonderfully friendly and the room was clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

We are currently staying here as part of our annual US road trip. The place is basic, I don't deny it but it is clean and quiet. It also has a great location right in the centre of Kodiak next to the excellent Kodiak Brewing Company. Everything is within walking distance. Don't expect any frills but for the price it's...

Not much good to say except that Marvin at the front desk was a very nice guy, the slow wifi was free, and it's stumbling distance from Kodiak Island Brewery. Other than that, my non-smoking room was so intensely saturated with smoke smell, that all of my luggage and clean clothes within were hammered and I had to leave everything...

Yet another wonderful stay at the Russian Heritage! It's nice to come back here (2 times a year) & have them not only remember who you are, but ask how your dog is doing! Wow...such nice people. Very clean room & bathroom and super comfy bed; great t.v. service (unlike the Best Western the one time I stayed there). Nice...

That's about all I can say that's good. Oh yeah it also had free Wi-Fi. Other than that it was a struggle. My non-smoking room smelled like a chimney. The toilet wouldn't even flush. Paper thing walls. Housekeeping didn't include picking up left over soap wrappers that were on the floor. No deadbolt or chain lock for the door, either....

I stay each summer at this friendly hotel when I arrive in Kodiak to purchase my seasonal supplies.....on my way to & from my cabin on another island several miles away. I've stayed here on and off since the 80s. It's gone through quite a renovation since those early days. I love the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff (both...

The Russian Heritage Hotel was very nice. The beds were EXCELLENT; new within the year I was told. This hotel was convenient to downtown & restaurants. Clean & quiet. Would stay there again. A great bargain for the price. The rate was excellent. The room had a refrigerator & full size coffee maker.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, we have updated our mattresses and are glad it was a comfortable sleep for you. It is a great location, especially with our local brewery and a great restaurant steps away. Hope you plan a return trip! Sincerely, Marilyn

Not the fanciest motel, but adequate. I went up to fish halibut in August 2014 and spent most of my time fishing while I was there. Slept hard in an upstairs room since I was tired. Enjoyed eating at Sparrow's restaurant (great pizza) and drinking at the Kodiak Brewery which are both next door. McDonald's is only a block away...

Thank you for your comments, especially regarding our Manager, Elke Carros. She has managed The Russian for over a dozen years and has put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this place. We can't control what changes and updates the owners do or do not want to do, however, we do our utmost to give excellent customer service...

Arrived on the island in the evening and checked in. The room was very run-down and smelled pretty bad, like something somewhere was rotting. It had been a long day and I figured I'd head across the street for a beer and a burger and then ask the people at the main desk if it would perhaps be possible to...

This Hotel is stripped down basic place to stay while fishing in Kodiak. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are very, very basic. Small flat screen TV, single beds, small bathroom, and smoking allowed outside each room. No ice or vending here. This is all ok for guys, but most ladies may not like it. The weather...

Thank you for noting that the hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. We (the staff) do not have ultimate control on what the owners choose to upgrade or not, however, we do have ultimate control of our actions and interactions with guests. We aim to be as guest friendly as possible and are fortunate to have many repeat guests year...
