WOW, WOW, WOW! Thank you so much for your hospitality Corin. What an awesome stay we had with our grandchildren. It was an absolutely delight to watch their faces as they interacted with the animals. The time you and your family took to make this a wonderful experience was priceless. We loved Settlers Rest. From the moment we stepped inside in was like stepping into another world. The children loved sitting around the open fire toasting marshmallows. The Swan Valley has so much to offer for the family to experience.
So if you are looking for the perfect place to lay your head please consider Settlers Rest we would highly recommend it.
Once again a sincere thank you to Corin,Ron, the girls, Ollie, Elsa and all of your gorgeous animals.

My sincere apologies for not responding to your wonderful review of your holiday here at the farm, I hadn't received an email alert that there had been a review. we are so very thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with the grandkids, we also get great pleasure in seeing children's faces when they interact with the friendly farm animals here. We wish you and your family a Happy 2021, and perhaps we may see you again this year. Take care

My family of 5 (with 2 kids 4.5 and 2 year old) enjoyed our 3 nights stay at the cozy cottage in Jan 2023. I love it for the location - 20 to 25mins drive from perth airport and it's central to many attractions (caversham wildlife park, vines mini golf, mondo nuts etc). Its so surreal to live in a 100year old cottage; though the place could be slightly dated-looking, we have a well-stocked kitchen for home cooked meals, and the house is definitely clean and tidy. Corrine & her family is so friendly and my kids were so excited to have the chance to play at their private DIY playground. Feeding the sheeps, goats and chickens is the kids' fave activity every morning. Young kids would love the open green spaces!

P/s: no wifi so do get your own data plan if want to access internet

Thank you for taking the time to write a lovely review of your farmstay experience here at Settlers Rest. The cottage is indeed a piece of Swan Valley history, with very few early settlers cottages left in the Swan valley. We believe, giving our guests the opportunity to live in a "real farmhouse", which has been fully restored to today's standards of comfort, makes the family farm experience all the more special. Not only do you get to hand feed friendly farm animals each day, you get to live in a real "farmhouse". It was a pleasure to host your family, and we'd love to see you all back again one day.

We had an amazing three days stay on the farm and absolutely enjoyed ourselves! The kids loved the farm and will surely missed the animals there. The cottage was quaint and charming, it was clean, cosy and well-furnished ~ everything was provided for, we just need to get our food supplies and good to go. The kids enjoyed feeding the animals with our own cut up carrots and they even got a fun buggy ride through the farm. Corinne and her family were lovely hosts and patient with the kids. We enjoyed the privacy and tranquility there and it's a great place to bond with family! It is without doubt the highlight of our trip in Perth. The kids are missing the place since back in Singapore and can't wait to return again!

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we really do appreciate feedback and are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay in our cottage and the farm. Yes, the animals are definitely friendly and love to have those carrots each day! Thanks for letting us know the water pressure was low in the shower, we will have a look into that as it is most unusual for the pressure to be low. We hope to see you again in the future.

Words can’t describe enough how amazing this place was. An authentic with a history, stories that will touch you with a family host that is so friendly, welcoming and warm.
I didn’t expect ourselves to be the only ones staying in this place until Corrine, one of the owners told us that they had never meant to make it commercialised and hence, had only kept as one cabin accommodation. We have never been to any farmstay in Perth but this first time experience just swept us away, with kids enjoying every moment of it, having the chance to feed as and when they like it, or choose to join in with the family who will feed their lovely animals whom each have such unique personalities. There is a gentle alpaca, sheep and family, goats, chicken (whom u could pick up fresh eggs from), plenty of equestrian horses which the family house, train and groom, a cow, guinea pigs and the owners make house dogs for company and they are all children-friendly. There was even a river that was so calm and peaceful.
The cottage was also quite something, with some kitchen ware that are so well preserved.
Last but not least, the location and home facilities were great - with it being close to swan valley’s attractions.

We had a really great and unforgettable time there and will highly recommend anyone looking for an authentic friendly exclusive enclave to stay in.

Wow!! Your review truly warms our heart!!! We are so very pleased that your family, particularly the girls got so much enrichment from staying at our farm and learning the habits and personalities of all the gorgeous friendly animals. Our daughters grew up on the farm surrounded by nature and animals, and it is pleasing for us that we can share this wonderful nature experience with other families. The farm cottage itself is warm and inviting, and a true piece of history here in the Swan Valley, the farm then was a full operating vineyard and a young Yugoslav family lived in the cottage and tended the vineyard for their livelihood. We hope to see you again on your next holiday to WA!

My husband, 2 young girls and I stayed at Settlers during 1st week of Oct 2022.
The farmstay was conveniently located within Swan Valley to all attractions, and Corinne the owner was very friendly with advice on her farm animals and what to do around Swan Valley. There are goats, sheep, chickens and some horses, and the kids loved feeding the animals (except the horses) and collecting barn eggs every morning. The house is a little dated and rustic, but what was important was that it was clean and well stocked with utensils, cutlery, towels, etc. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Thank you taking the time to write a lovely review on your stay at the farm. We are so thrilled your family enjoyed their experience here and loved feeding the farm animals and collecting the fresh eggs. The cottage is a rare find in the Swan Valley, with most of the early settlers cottages not existing today. We did not want to destroy a piece of history, so we set about fully restoring the cottage back to its former glory, so that guests could get a taste of early Australiana architecture, but of course , adding the modern conveniences that are expected of today's society. Settlers Rest cottage is not a purpose built holiday house, it is a piece of Swan Valley history. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Perth.

Perfect. So tranquil, can’t hear any cars or hustle and bustle and still a very short drive from the CBD. Also 5 minutes from lots of things to do in the Swan Valley, close to food, drink, supermarkets if you need.

Loads of friendly farm animals on site that you can feed.

Views from the patio of the valley and Swan River, quaint fully self-contained house with loads of historic character, couldn’t have been happier with our stay.

Owners very helpful in recommendations and information. Thanks a bundle.

My mum, sister, my children and I stayed three days on the farm and could of easily stayed so much longer! The cottage was so neatly presented, clean and homely with the added touch of history.
Being an animal lover I cant describe how much I enjoyed interacting with the animals and teaching my children about other animals other then the general domestic varieties.
An added bonus is the property is so close to the heart of the swan valley and what the region has to offer.
Corinne, Ron and their daughters hospitality was world class and we will definitely be back :)

Morning, thank you for your query. We have a variety of friendly farm animals that children love to feed and touch. Sheep, lambs, goats, cow, alpacas, chickens, guinea pigs, and lots of ponies and horses. The farm is on the river, and you can walk to our private jetty and fish if you wish. Children absolutely love the animals here and often do not wish to leave.

My apologies for seeing this question. Most of our guests do have their own transport. The cottage is self-catering which means it has full kitchen facilities to prepare your own meals, you need food supplies. Grocery supplies can be delivered but I do feel it is best to have your own vehicle.

Thank you for your message. Our rates will remain the same in 2019. Our maximum is 8 persons, in 3 bedrooms. How long were you intending to stay, as we do not feel the cottage would be suitable for 7 adults 2 children if you intend to stay for a period of time.
