Chose this hotel 3 years ago when we got married and again for my wife's 50th birthday weekend away. The receptionist gave us an upgrade when we arrived to the Adam and eve suite with whirlpool bath and 4 poster bed. They also had a good menu to choose from at night. Ticked all the boxes for a weekend away.

Probably as good a B&B as I've stayed in. Big warm room, clean bathroom with great towels. Pleasant staff, free parking. Very fine breakfast - not quite an Ulster fry - but, reasonably close? If I have to nit-pick, a Scottish hotel without porridge on the breakfast menu??? My room was on the road side of the hotel. This wasn't...

Lovely hotel, only stayed for one night as passing through. Couldn't have asked for better. We booked a superior double for an overnight stay on the way back home north. Amazing! Room was beautiful and bed was so comfy. We ate in the bar at night and the food was very good, breakfast in the morning was very good too....

We often make the hour long trip down to Gretna Gateway to do some shopping, and always try to call into the Gretna Chase for a bite of lunch - have just realised I don't think I have ever left a review. Popped in here on Sunday for a bite to eat - we were not too hungry so decided...

Went in here for lunch while down visiting my parents. Was very quiet with it being a Monday afternoon. Girl serving was very nice. Most main courses are about £10-£11 which might not be cheap but portions were decent. I had a gammon steak with egg. This came with a decent serving of fresh veg and a bucket of chips...

Arrived after taking a very short detour from the motorway (literally minutes). Hotel is attractive with plenty of parking, very nice garden and friendly welcoming staff. We popped in to see if they could cater for a Vegan and Vegetarian and could not have expected a better reception. Vegan and Vegetarian food on the menu/special's board. The food was imaginative...

I couldn´t believe our good fortune when we showed up without a reservation on a Friday evening after a long drive north from Portsmouth. We were given a lovely, large double room with a large bath. The price for our accommodation was actually less than I had paid for the previous night in a Travelodge! The whole time we were...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located on the Scottish / English border, Gretna Green is world famous for its runaway marriages and in the mid nineteenth century there was much rivalry between the various marriage house proprietors ... The Gretna Chase Hotel was built by John Murray, an extremely successful businessman in the marriage trade, and tenant of Allison's toll-bar. Completed in 1856, Murray built the hotel opposite the toll-bar. It proved very popular with clients, being the first in the area to offer stabling for horses. Today, The Gretna Chase Hotel offers modern amenities, but retains much of its original character. All bedrooms have pleasant views of the surrounding countryside, and public rooms are furnished in a style in-keeping with the age of the hotel. Fully licensed, privately owned and completely supervised by the owners, this small but extremely comfortable hotel offers the discerning guest a carefree informality away from city pressures. We would be delighted to show you around the hotel by appointment , to highlight all the facilities we have to offer and discuss your personal requirements. ... more   less
