I see that no-one has written a review for the Seahorse for some time and so I thought I would add mine. I stayed at the Seahorse Resort for two weeks during March 2011.The resort lies to the south of Hua Hin near Khao Takiab, a few km from Hua Hin. Seahorse is a small and quiet resort (ideal for me), especially during the week but the rooms seemed to fill up a bit at the weekend with mostly Thai people on weekend breaks. The beach is a few minutes walk away and you can walk the full length of the beach up to Hua Hin if you wish. The pool at Seahorse is well maintained and clean and the resort offers breakfast and dinner. The staff are generally friendly although not all of them appear to speak English. Transport to Hua Hin is available nearby by means of the 'green bus' based a few minutes walk away. Accommodation is fine and rooms are kept clean and tidy although I do think that the hotel website could do with an update. There was a mini bar in the room but no tea or coffee making facilities in the room; perhaps the hotel could look at addressing this? The hotel offers free wi-fi in your bedroom and this worked well during my stay. There is also free internet usage in reception. In summary I would say that Seahorse is most suitable for those seeking quiet accommodation to the south of Hua Hin and if you can get your accommodation here at a good rate all the better.

The resort is located fairly close to the beach (Khao Takiab), just a few minutes walk. The beach is okay, probably one of the nicer beaches in Hua Hin. There is also a bus stop just nearby which makes travelling easy if you don't have your own car. The pool in the resort was fantastic - a great size with plenty of seats shaded around the edge. The room was aged, but also really lovely. Had tv/air/fridge/hot water, and a nice old bath tub. Great size. The bed was comfortable enough (not too hard). The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was what you get in Thailand. Great value, and a good option for a nice break.

Decor is not bad, 4buildings(2 floors) surrounding the center salted pool. Interior design is quite good, especially the bathroom.

Too bad, I went their with parents. The bathroom is too dangerous for them to step down/up for shower. I think it's a trouble for family with children as well.

We got electricity shut down in the second night. Gotta stay with no light and air-con from 2-8am. Clearly there is no power generator here!!!

As I came with family, I chose duplex room (2 bedrooms). I already saw in review that bathroom on the 2nd floor has slow water to shower. I don't think the hotel checks review and fix up. They don't do maintenance well.

Lots of Mosquitos even though the hotel helps spraying every time we go out.

Parking space is limited (only 5 cars) Don't go during weekends.

Good thing is their clean swimming pool. The hotel staff is quite helpful.

The location is not far from cicada market and city area but you need a car still.

In summary, I'd recommend the hotel for young couple or family with big kids only.

12 of us (10 adults and 2 young children) stayed in this resort and it was fantastic. It is close to the beach and has huge rooms with big bathrooms and balconies facing the pool. The kids simply loved the pool. The bathroom came with a separate shower cubicle and bathtub, the rooms came with umbrellas, bathrobes, hairdryers and slippers and a daybed in the balcony. It was heaven for the kids. The staff was very nice and helpful. The only downside is that the rooms can be a little noisy as you can hear the kids screaming in the pool and the hotel is a little far from town. But we loved the hotel and would go back again.

I was travelling with my family and we booked 3 rooms at this hotel. When we arrived in our room, the toilet seat was stained yellow, was smelly and the shower was dirty. The windows on to the balcony were covered in fingermarks from previous occupants. The bed in my daughter's family room had torn sheets on it and the toilet seat was also marked. My son's family room was the best but still had finger marks on the windows. I went to Reception to complain and Housekeeping was sent in to try to clean the toilet seat. This was impossible so I refused to stay in the room. They offered us the suite above Reception. It was spacious and cleaner but still basic with torn curtains and we had to pay extra. The breakfast was boring and lying open to flies etc. The toasting machine was the best thing there, the Egg Station was fine, providing boiled, scrambled, fried and omelettes. The swimming pool was excellent, very clean but the kids' pool was near cleaned and the water was not circulated in the 10 days we stayed there. The transport links were good with buses a couple of minutes walk away. There is a beautiful temple at the back. The hotel provides a minibus service service which is excellent and is free at 6 pm each night into Hua Hin. the staff do not speak very good English but they are very friendly and do their best.

This place may have been quaint when it first opened, which I can only guess was 10-20 years ago. However, it is now a garbage dump. As is all too common in Thailand, this place was built and then neglected. It needs a complete overhaul. Everything is old, stained, and dirty. The pool is filthy. The analog TVs look like they were picked up for $15 at a garage sale. The beds are hard as rock. Half of the light in the room (so, 2 in total) didn't work. I don't know how anyone gave favorable reviews for this heap. And the price (3,000 baht) is outrageous. I've stayed in 300 baht guesthouses nicer than here. Take your money elsewhere.

Seahorse Hua Hin resort is to be found a few kilometres south of Hua Hin with a view to Khao Takiap on one side and a Buddist temple in the back yard. If you're looking to get away from Hua Hin's big city feel but still be close, this is a good option.
The hotel is reasonably quiet (some traffic noise), the rooms clean and the staff friendly although not very good at English.
Nice pool which we preferred to the beach (5-10 min. walk) due to the "package tourism feel". The room is equipped with TV, fridge, a/c and balcony. Have had problems with the shower water which has a tendency to swap between warm and scolding every few seconds so be careful!
Breakfast is boring and tasteless: scrambled, omelette or fried eggs, awful coffee, juice and dry toast is what you get. Frankly we could have been without.

Truly welcoming Hotel, though my initial booking was high end price wise, after a few days here we were able to negotiate extremely good rates. The staff here were excellent. From arranging my arrival drink to my departing breakfast in the room. Excellent standard of rooms and so quiet. Brilliant swimming pool area especially with Anne close by on a lounger. Thanks to all the staff from reception to driver from cook to cleaner! we will be back, someday soon I hope! Thanks also for arranging the Air-Blade motorbike...superb.

My stay at this location was good. The showers work great (hot water), the staff was very helpful and polite, location was great for walking around (the beach just mins, food close by), and it was very quite/relaxing. Pool is open 24hrs and lighting is good. Only negative points would be the area around the pool is worn. Some the of planks need repairs. I will stay there again, but I hope the price improves!

First impressions are always important. When we walked into the lobby of the Seahorse it looked as though it had not been cleaned in months. The fellow at the reception was unhelpful and in fact gave us some incorrect information about amenities and transportation. The room cleanliness was ok. The breakfast staff were friendly and nice but the offering was pretty weak.
