Stayed only 2 nights but wished it was longer. Can't thank the family enough for making this short stay thoroughly enjoyable. Everything you'd expect from staying with a super friendly family in an Indonesian village. I would choose to stay here over a 5 star hotel any time. Oh, and the food is so awesome that we even have to keep fighting off the kitten!.

Had a couple of troubles with my booking but they were so nice and made a better arrangement for me.
My room más so comfy, clean with a great view.
They give you all the information you need and help as much as they can.
It's a lovely family, plus the location is really good with plenty of things to do.
Help me with everything, tour, rentals, flight and things to do.
Highly recommended

Excellent place to stay. Way more comfortable then you can expect for this budget, guests are literally wrapped in warm but delicate hospitality. Plus valuable advice from the European owners on the local sightseeings.

We picked this place for price and the location to the Borobudur temple, very good location, i've got to say the staff were very helpful and exceptional friendly but and there is a big but.

The property needs quite a bit of attention, I understand that they have just moved in but the room itself is very basic, bed and blankets have seen much better days, the staff carried a mattress though and it was covered in stains, goodness only knows what we were sleeping on. The noise of the family's children was pretty high, not a place for relaxation.

The massive but, was they had a caged Loris (Slow), Not only does the slow loris pet trade cause unimaginable suffering, it is also the biggest threat to the survival of the species, which is in serious danger of extinction, this should not be in a very small cage and with nothing but a twig for company. The man who has this place is western and should know better. This is unacceptable. not happy about this at all.

For this alone, the marks on this property are low.

Response from jolan t, Owner at Jolan Jalan Homestay Borobudur

Thanks for your pertinent review. We will work on our weakness with your help and the help of everyone staying with us. About the bed you speak about it was surely not from any rooms we rent but the bed of the family living in the front who asked us help to try to clean it. About the slow loris it is nice you worried about it and do not doubt about we do care about it. Yes the slow loris is in a box smaller than the past one and much bigger than the one it almost born in. Before to judge a situation it would have been nice that you question us about it. So we saved it from a family that was really not able to care about it. When we received it to our place it was with hair colours blood and infections and bad nutrishing problems... we do actually saved it... Everyday we do give him a lot of different foods... Also due to the fact that it borns in captivity even it is going out of the box for multiple times it always came back because it could not get food byitself. We also took contact with an association located in sumatera (the best place for slow loris) but at that time it was full and they told us they ll pass to pick it up but it has been 7 years now... You can feel better after my answer i do hope. Aboit the noise and other we apologize and let you know that we already managed a new place for make the homestay more peaceful... We would like also to tell you that you can come again when ever you want to re experience our place with those better conditions... Also during your stay we do received a friend from Australia who was mooving to mexico and brought all her house furniture in our house so it explains why it was a bit messy in the sharing area but the rooms where proprely cleaned by our staff as always. Regards jolan and uus

I felt like I was in my own home. I was offered a glass of water when I came. It's a simple act but it meant a lot. We talked casually and the way they oriented me with all the necessaries was friendly. Not business-like like what most people talk to house guests. Actually, it's far from the Borobudur Temple Complex but it was what I wanted. Morning walk. Nasi Goreng was heavenly cooked. Highly recommended.

We had the superior room. The bathroom was twice as big as the bedroom. The furniture was simple but it was clean. You live with the family. They are pretty nice and helpfull. Sometimes it´s a bit noisy because of the young children, but you can see how they live and everyone in town knows Jolan Jalan Homestay. They are very friendly once they know you stay there. The homestay is not easy to find, but the landscape is very very beautiful. You can rent a bicycle or a scooter and the family gets you wherever you want. We really enjoyed our stay. At our last day I got sick and a familymember really cared about me. So all together we would highly recommend a stay at Jolan Jalan Homestay.

Fantastic friendly guest house very close (although not walking distance) to Borobudur. Clean, comfy, cosy and quiet - the family are super welcoming and the room rate extremely reasonable. Easy to organise transport/trips/everything (eg sunrise tour) I would 100% stay here again. Borrow the old style push bikes and go exploring in the beautiful countryside!
