Stayed in the 'Courtbarn' during a overnight trip and it was wonderful. The barn and other cottages are all old, but we were amazed at the care and attention to detail provided to ensure we would be happy at the retreat. The grounds are spectacular and I believe there are only 7 cottages on site which means there is a lot of privacy if that's what you're looking for. We enjoyed some wine and cheese in the evening near the pool area and listened to the birds. It was incredibly peaceful. I've noticed other posts make comment on the condition of the pool in the past - it was pristine during our stay. The rose garden was very pretty and we enjoyed a tasting session (very private) at Moorooroo Winery which is adjacent to the retreat.
Our cottage had everything you could want for. The fridge was stocked with breakfast items, furniture/decor was lovely and our bed was super comfy with good quality sheeting/pillows.
The barn/cottage is old so lights were switched on via ceiling cord and the stairs up to the bedroom are old but add character to the place.
We were very impressed by the bathroom. It was modern with a massive two person shower and a beautiful bathtub. Towels/bathrobes/slippers were all there waiting for us after a day of tasting wines.
The Courtbarn was very romantic (candles provided) and we would certainly recommend this to any couple(s) looking for a bit of a get away.
There is no manangement on site but a contact number is provided if necessary (seriously you won't need reception it's all provided for you before you arrive).
We did meet Jerry (manager) when we were leaving the following morning - thanks Jerry for checking in on us . we lived our stay and will definately be back.

The Retreat consists of a number of lodges/cabins which you reach via a gravel track. The grounds are picturesque and peaceful and the Retreat is surrounded by lovely scenery. Our room did not have a security box nor could we access Wi-Fi, other than in or around the breakfast room which is shared with other guests. No problem for us but you need to be aware of this. Our bed was sumptuously comfortable. As with other reviews, we found it slightly odd that nobody was there to greet us on arrival and for our first night we were the only guests. The swimming pool is poorly maintained and to be frank was a disgrace, so poor that we could not swim in it. We did however enjoy our stay, making use of the BBQ facilities in the evening and spotting kangaroos in the wild as they skipped past the Retreat in the evenings.

The grounds were beautifully presented (with some areas still a work in progress) and the pool immaculate albeit a bit cold along with the weather when we visited. Rooms had everything we needed although some more clear surface to put items (including when preparing breakfast) would be helpful. We will visit again.

This was a very nice getaway that allowed for an overnight stay in the Barossa. The historic and well restored grounds provide several private accommodation options, all with great character but still with enough modern amenities to make it a comfortable stay. The grounds are beautiful, and there is a pool and bbq area. The only issue may be the lack of dining options on site, but there are plenty of those in the Barossa and surrounds a short drive away. Unfortunately our schedule didn’t allow to sample the winery right next door – next time. There is no on-site reception but an envelope left for us provided all of the information we needed to get access and enjoy our stay, and a contact number is provided should any issues arise. Definitely not a family option, but for couples it is perfect and recommended.

The property and gardens are amazing we stayed in Fushia Cotage and it is charming and cosy as per pictures. Jerry was very welcoming heater was on when we arrived and Bottle of complimentary sparkling was appreciated. The spa is amazing and the ambience of the Cotage just what we were hoping for romantic and welcoming. Next time we have to stay in spring or summer to enjoy all what the property has to offer. Amazing rose garden, beautiful pool and winery right next door😉👍just perfect.

I can highly recommend this accommodation 🙂

We had a lovely stay at Jacobs Creek Retreat. It's a romantic space with a beautiful garden.

I have to make a shout out to Jerry - although contactless check in was offered we ran into him on the grounds and he explained the history of the space to us which was wonderful.

Furthermore, we unfortunately had a little bad luck during our trip and dropped our cheese platter on the ground (smashing the plates and all) Jerry was so lovely, he came running to check up on us when he heard the smash, he was much more worried about us than the plates and he even gifted us a cheese as a replacement!!!! No major hotel would be providing above and beyond service like this. Thank you!

The cottage was delightful, and extremely well-appointed with lots of lovely touches to make it feel special.
The gardens and pool area are just beautiful, making it a real oasis to relax in.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it - whilst there isn't a restaurant on site as mentioned in other reviews, there are plenty within a few minutes' easy drive and it wasn't an issue at all for us.
Would go back any time!

Thanks Jerry for being accommodating and lucky us, we were even upgraded to a King Suite free of charge! The Orlando Suite was absolutely stunning and the bed was so comfortable. The surrounding gardens are lovely, our only disappointment was that the weather was way too cold to take advantage of the gorgeous pool.

We spent 3 nights here between Xmas & New Year. Great location, 10 mins to Tanunda ($25 in a taxi) and even closer to many good wineries. The grounds and facilities were amazing, our cottage was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Would highly recommend

I had goo thoughts about this place, going by the pics, but it was nothing like it. The pool was full of algae, and had been that way for months according to the guest book. The Water worked occassionly..
All the Tuscan water features, weren't working - and also full of algae. The gardens were also rundown. There was no service to speak of, and what was there, they really didnt care that much. On the positive, the room was nice and cool ( it was 43C when we were there) the breakfast was great, coffee good. But the location of the place is hard to find, up a dirt road and hidden away. I would not recommend it, but i truly wanted to like it, as it had a lot of charm, it just was so rundown.
