We visited avarest in July of 2018. While we only stayed one night, it was very pleasant. The hosts are extremely friendly and had no trouble helping us find all the great things to see locally. The location is fantastic, only a couple miles away...More
Arrived on the verge of a meltdown in Ireland’s biggest heat wave in decades. Our room did not work well for our needs under the circumstances and the young man in charge at the time was kind, patient, and responsive. We were moved to another...More
When we arrive in Ireland the most comforting place to land is at Avarest. The location next to the airport is unbeatable, and it's so close to other wonderful sites nearby -- Like Bunratty Castle and Galway. Thank you Deirdre for always making us feel...More
We recently stayed at Avarest at the start of a 3 country tour and we absolutely loved our time there and Deirdre is the biggest reason why! Her beautiful home is in a great location very close to Shannon Airport and we enjoyed 4 nights...More
Our flight to Shannon airport was delayed but the folks at Averest B&B stayed up late to welcome us. Charming cottage and bedroom with a great breakfast. Close to both Shannon Airport and Bunratty Castle and Folk Park (highly recommended stop). Thanks again.

Yes, they are definitely there. Every bed and breakfast we stayed at was the hosts actual home so there is little chance of any B&B being 'closed' or empty. I'm not sure about contacting them by email or via their website, but I was just there last week. They were talking about the start of the season and how they would be having a full house from our stay going forward.
It may be a comfort to know that when we made our reservations we never confirmed them. Regardless, when we arrived at every B&B we were fully expected and welcomed including Avarest.
I think people in Ireland do things differently than we do in the states. I wouldn't worry.
