As many others have noted, this is a very special hotel, not least because it feels far less like a hotel than like staying in someone's gorgeous home -- someone with very good taste and an appreciation for genuine comfort. It's located in a particularly beautiful part of Ireland, amid lush green fields, with distant views to an extraordinary landscape...

We spent two nights here celebrating a "significant" birthday. What a great choice. The hotel is so welcoming and comfortable and the staff are professional and friendly. The icing on the cake is the restaurant - amazing food, in fact, the best meal we have had in a very long time. The location is excellent for touring in The Burren....

We stayed in Gregans for two nights and we did like it. Attention to detail cannot be faulted. Spotless and the surroundings are so beautiful. My husband and I have done a lot of travelling and we have never experienced a meal like this before. Top Notch and most definitely the highlight to our stay. Simply excellent served with a...

Our top location on our 11 day driving tour. Beautiful location, views of the Burren and lovely grounds I'd like to have explored more. Great staff, and the barman gave me some valuable lessons on Irish whiskey.

Stupefyingly boring location that is definitely not a castle! If slacks and tie dressing on Saturday arvo are your thing you'll love it.This is a boring location, cliffs of Moher are 30 mins away but there is nothing else noteworthy. To us it appeared a cringeworthy english imitation of posh.

More like a manor house B&B than a true castle but still really nice - the room was huge and everything was nice and clean. The breakfast was really good - there was a buffet with local cheeses and meats, fruit, pastries, juice, and you could order eggs from the kitchen. Kind of out in the middle of nowhere but...

Absolutely wonderful spread in beautiful surroundings! Love it! Cosy hotel with nooks and crannies to be explored - lovely bar with fireplace. Located in the centre of the Burren - stunning scenery. Will definitely be back.

The property is one of the more unique properties we've ever stayed at. The bar area is warm and cozy with its own menu and excellent bartender. The owners and associated staff are warm and always looking to assist.

Stop into this gem of a hotel with my friend on our way to Doolin, so glad we did, we were greeted by Ken, who gave us a very warm welcome and could not do enough for us. It was absolutely warm and relaxing with excellent service. The hotel was booed out unfortunately for myself and my friend who found...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With breathtaking views across Galway Bay and idyllically situated overlooking the unique Burren landscape, this is the ultimate luxury and gourmet hideaway. Simon and Frederieke together with their staff manage this oasis of comfort and offer genuine Irish hospitality, award winning innovative cooking and elegant bedrooms free from the intrusion of televisions. Antiques, an eclectic art collection, open fires, candles, jugs of flowers and Shelley the cat add to the indulgently relaxing atmosphere. The hotel while strictly not a "castle" in the usual sense of the word has been named "Gregans Castle" since it was built in 1750 as a more comfortable residence for the O'Loughlen and Martyn families from the nearby 16th century towerhouse. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren Food Trail. The ideal location from which to enjoy the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Walking, Cycling, the Aran Islands, Horse Riding, Surfing, Sea Angling, Golf. Members of The Burren Ecotourism Network.
