With breathtaking views across Galway Bay and idyllically situated overlooking the unique Burren landscape, this is the ultimate luxury and gourmet hideaway. Simon and Frederieke together with their staff manage this oasis of comfort and offer genuine Irish hospitality, award winning innovative cooking and elegant bedrooms free from the intrusion of televisions. Antiques, an eclectic art collection, open fires, candles, jugs of flowers and Shelley the cat add to the indulgently relaxing atmosphere. The hotel while strictly not a "castle" in the usual sense of the word has been named "Gregans Castle" since it was built in 1750 as a more comfortable residence for the O'Loughlen and Martyn families from the nearby 16th century towerhouse. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren Food Trail. The ideal location from which to enjoy the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Walking, Cycling, the Aran Islands, Horse Riding, Surfing, Sea Angling, Golf. Members of The Burren Ecotourism Network.

Gregans is absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed an amazing afternoon, warm and relaxed by the open fire in the bar, while the rain and wind battled with the landscape outside. Everything about our experience was exceptional. We were warmly welcomed by our host, who carefully attended to the necessary protocols while at the same time ensuring that we could enjoy our visit. All staff members were courteous, kind and genial. Our Afternoon Tea was the finest we have ever had. A rich selection of scones, sandwiches, cakes, desserts and pastries, we were challenged to finish the bounty of goodness before us. We were afforded the time to sit back and savour it all; never feeling rushed or pressured. Everything was prepared with precision and care and it was evident that the best of local produce was employed. We certainly hope to return to Gregans. It is beautifully calm and elegant while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you.

Totally exceeds expectations. This is by far the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in a very long time. The grounds are stunning and so peaceful, the hotel is so relaxing and beautifully decorated. The staff were all outstanding - in particular Hannah at reception and her Dad in the bar. We are going to come back every year, we got engaged in the grounds so this hotel will always be special to us!

Cosy country house in beautiful setting, warm welcome upon arrival by Hannah. Our room was cosy and had a stunning view of the lush lawns. Breakfast was delicious and we sat out on the comfy deckchairs for the morning then went for a drive to the Cliffs of Moher. Dinner was a highlight of our staycation, amazing experience. The grounds are just breathtaking with the burren national park in the background. I’d love to come back in the winter to sit on front of the open fires.

We spent the last two nights of our staycation in Gregans Castle and its safe to say we saved the best for last! We didn’t really know what to expect, but what we got exceeded our expectations! We booked a junior suite which was fabulous - gorgeous views of Galway bay, lovely seating area, and very comfortable bed. The lounge and bar areas are very comfortable and cosy. Staff are amazing, very friendly and attentive without being invasive. The food is a real highlight here, we ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was exquisite. The scallop starter was so good I didn’t want it to end! A great selection of wines as well which is fantastic. We would highly recommend Gregans castle - we can’t wait to return and are already planning an autumn getaway there. Gregans has gone to the top of our list as one of our favourite places in Ireland to stay.

We arrived in Gregans Castle last Thursday in beautiful sunshine. What a wonderful place and gardens the setting is just stunning. Our room was lovely Gleninagh and catered for all our needs. We enjoyed sitting outside looking over the Burren enjoying an aperitif. All the staff were wonderful and so welcoming a big shout out to Hanna.and her Dad Ken. Dinners and breakfasts were superb all enjoyed looking over the beautiful garden. We choose fish on both evenings Black Sole on the bone and Roasted John Dory. The sommelier matched our wines perfectly. Breakfast under COVID restrictions were the best experiences we have had. Beautiful presented buffet and cooked breakfast a real treat. We enjoyed pre and post dinner drinks in the bar and had great chats with the barman who recommended lovely trips in the area. We are already looking forward to a return visit.
