Hawthorn House is the BEST regarding its location - that being said - the rooms are "dated" and for the price - they are nothing special. Maybe Kenmare gets higher rates for rooms than the other places that we stayed in Ireland? If you are looking for a great location - stay here - if you are looking for something...

We had a very comfortable large room in the back for 2 nights. Breakfast was cheerfully served early to help us catch an early bus. Mary's tips about pubs and restaurants were right on. We would love to stay here again. Easy stroll to all attractions in lovely little Kenmare.

Wonderful food. Mary is a charming hostess with good tips for traveling around the area. The room was large and clean. The location is very convenient to walking through the charming town of Kenmare. My husband and I had a very good experience in this B&B.

Mary O'Brien is a wonderful hostess and her place is convenienty located at the intersection to downtown Kenmare. She cooks a great breakfast. The rooms are a little dated but very clean and we slept soundly. I would suggest, if possible, to get a back room off the busy street if noise bothers you. Mary can help with suggestions and...

We decided to use Kenmare as our base camp for doing some driving and hiking on the Beara Peninsula, and despite having no reservations, we wound up with great accommodations at Hawthorn House. Mary gave us the "honeymoon suite," a small outbuilding behind the main property that had a large bedroom with a television, supplies for tea-making, and an en...

Owner/Hostess, Mary O'Brien made our overnight stay in Kenmare the highlight of our vacation. Mary not only runs a top rate accommodation but has the warm and welcoming personality that makes you feel like you are family and she's your favourite sister! We hope that one day Mary will write a book and include the story of the women celebrating...

From the start, Mary was welcoming and full of kindness. Her hospitality was the kind that makes travel so enjoyable. Our room was comfortable, breakfast was charming and she gave us spot on advice on things to do. They have ample private parking and a nice lounge as well. In the end, we wished we could have spent a few...

We were shown to our rooms and told our host would see us in the morning. We asked about places to eat and were told the direction to head. Our experience was so different that at all our other b&b's in Ireland. Breakfast was fine. My husband took his morning shower and then we couldn't get it to work for...

Sorry, maybe they were having a bad day, but we didn't get sense of friendliness from anyone when we arrived. Our room was OK, mattress was worn out, bathroom tiny, shower tinier. The knotty pine paneling a little too rustic for us. Breakfast was OK, service perfunctory. We do agree that it has good location at edge of downtown, easy...

We stayed at Hawthorn House for three nights and had a great experience. Mary is so friendly and you can tell she really enjoys her job. She is one of those people who was born to be in the B&B industry because she just really has the gift of hospitality. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the location just...
