The lodge is located on a working cattle station. The accommodation and restaurant are on the basic side but you don't come here if you want to lounge in 5 star resort luxury - this is for immersion in the Mary River national park, and the guides will take you to the wildlife, the birdlife and the feeling of remoteness. Having been to Kakadu, I would recommend this in preference

Bit disappointed to say the least. Owners could do with some people skills, both seem miserable and uninterested. Aircon in room was so loud couldn’t sleep with it on and the ceiling fan was either full bore or not worth having on. Pillows were terrible. Bar and bistro advertise as being open until 10pm but called last drinks at 8.30 on the 3 nights we were there and kicked us all out at 9 saying it was quiet. I wouldn’t call a dozen or so people buying drinks and watching State of Origin quiet but alas, we all got kicked out into the mozzie infested night with no internet access other than in the bar. Food was ok from the bistro and fair priced but breakfast was expensive for continental. Pool was nice but could do with a few loungers and such. There are rules everywhere about stubby bottles not allowed on the property yet they sell them at the bar? Go figure. Rules about everything plastered everywhere, not very welcoming at all. We did both the boat tour and the 4WD tour and found both to be underwhelming for the cost. See more on the Wildman 4WD track that you can drive yourself.

Room Tip: Bring lots of mozzie repellant and spray. Don’t expect too much.

A great location and lovely pool. The walk was incredible and I would love to do some of the tours on offer. Friendly service and relaxing place to chill. Breakfast is pricey for what it is and would have loved more chairs around the pool as they were monopolised by one set of guests.

Location good. Facilities ok. Only a kettle in the rooms. No toaster so can’t do own breakfast. They charge $19.50 for a couple of pieces of toast. Camp kitchen dirty and underwhelming. Saloon is meant to be open every night till 10. We stayed 3 nights and each night last drinks were called at 8.30. There is no TVs in the room and no Wi-Fi. The only pleasant staff is the girl behind the bar. Owners unfriendly

We had three nights on a powered site with some trees and green grass which was watered continually! We knew of the existence of the flood plain but the ground was so wet around us the mosquitos were absolutely shocking. The showers and toilets located 100 metres away. It was a hazard during the evening to walk to them - no lighting in the park except for a couple of small solar lights to indicate a break in the fence not to mention having to avoid the Sprinklers keeping the grass green. Also there was no hand soap or sanitizer provided. The showers were screened by a shower curtain only and when you stepped out on to the tiles in the general area it was very slippery. We did the 4WD flood plain tour which overall was disappointing. A nice guide who did his best but the tour didn't deliver as advertised and cost $95 each. We also booked the Mary River Cruise wetland cruise -same guide who tried to find crocs for us to get to the Rock Hole for this cruise we were very surprised to find that we had a 40 minute drive back out along the road we used to get to Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge. The guide then told us that the Billabong we were cruising in was right alongside Corroboree Billabong. We could have had a powered site at Corroboree Tavern. The advertisement for Point Stuart was misleading because we thought the cruise was close to their location. I guess we didn't do enough homework before making our booking my recommendation for campers in the Mary River Area - consider Corroboree Tavern Camp.

We had a great stay here - a true wilderness location. Our cabin was very clean and comfortable with a lovely shaded deck area at the back looking out across grassland. So quiet and peaceful when we stayed. Also great for star gazing at night. Swimming pool was large and refreshing. We did both the river and sunset 4WD tours with Roscoe. He was brilliant at helping us to spot wildlife and we saw a huge range of animals and birds. He was really knowledgeable. We ate in the restaurant which was good, generous portions but no veggie options. Only negative comment would be cost of the trips. Weve also done a comparable full day trip to Arnhem Land from Jabiru with an equally great guide, but about £300 cheaper.

To get here you go along an well kept dirt track.

Our welcome to the lodge was OK, but could have been better, very business like.

We choose a lodge that slept 5. The room was large and clean. The air conditioning unit noisy. Good size fridge provided with tea & coffee. Basic accommodation, but probably as expected.

The site is well maintained. A few more chairs by the pool would be good. Sometimes we had to stand if we wanted to be with our son whilst he was swimming. There is a laundry area and payable washing machine. Washing line & pegs provided.

The restaurant provides a good choice of food. My husband is vegetarian and whilst nothing advertised for vegetarian the chef pulled out all stops. My husband was presented with a huge pasta dish, plenty of veg and sauce which he enjoyed so he had again the next night, thanks chef's.

My son and I had a huge barramundi and chips the first night, steak and chicken parmigiana the second night. Both nights food very good. We didn't have breakfast as took food for this.

Went on the River Cruise which I can highly recommend. I would go back to the lodge again I would give a rating of good but can't. The night sky is amazing and saw the milky way.

This Wilderness Lodge exceeded our expectations and was very true to its photos. The facilities are clean and well maintained, the cabin we stayed in was all we needed in a remote location and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. The saloon bar was great for a cold drink and the meals were good honest fare - really well prepared and good portions. Would highly recommend the half day fishing too.
(We did go and visit the Wildman Lodge for a look see and it is deserted - don’t confuse it as Wilderness Lodge is operating just fine!)

After spending sometime travelling Kakadu and being disappointed in the amount of places being shut to tourists we head toward Darwin and stubbled across point Stuart wilderness lodge. Everything from camping, eco tents to rooms. Staff are amazing, restaurant has a great selection of food and drinks, amenities are spotless and a pool to cool down in. Up the road is a great fishing spot and the wild man wilderness track to spot some of the local residents. You can book tours or just be given some great advise if you want to head it alone. Privately owned, always open and well worth a look!
Thanks guys for a great few days!👍
