Stayed here for 5 weeks, Spring 2014. Firstly, don't let the name fool you in to thinking this place is a holiday "lodge". Although it has some short-term rooms, it's predominantly a halfway house full of long-term residents who are otherwise unable to find accommodation elsewhere. Some of them are okay, most of them are dirty and inconsiderate. A few are completely mentally unbalanced. Room was dusty and the linen was stained, but seemed clean, and in general no complaints about the room itself. Sleep quality can be terrible as residents often like to congregate in communal areas getting drunk and playing loud music until the late hours of the night. Bathrooms cleaned daily in the morning but by evening they're filthy -- it was a daily occurrence to urine all over the toilet/floor in at least one of the bathrooms and filth all over the shower. Wifi is stable but throttled at low speeds. If you're like me and in Sydney on a project and barely spend any time at the lodge and just want a bed to sleep on, the location and price make it bearable. Otherwise, I'd suggest you avoid this place and find yourself a better B&B in North Sydney or Kirribilli.

Offering both short term and long term accommodation there is nothing wrong with this place. I'm staying long term and I work full time and do not suffer a mental illness. I'm simply saving until I have enough money for a bond (which is normally a month's wages in Sydney). The room is really clean and a very decent size for the rate I pay.

I haven't met any of these mentally ill residents referred and haven't seen anyone congregating in the communal areas to so I'm not sure what the previous reviewers are referring to. I've also not once heard the loud music and I've been staying a week so far.

My only gripe is that I can only get the ABC stations on the TV but I work a lot and don't really watch TV so this is no biggie. I can watch everything I want to online.

I'm right next to a bathroom and the kitchen which is awesome, it's kinda like having my own apartment anyway which is cool until I actually get one.

The bathrooms are not actually dirty like other reviewers have said, but it depends on exactly what you want from your accommodation.

The staff are relatively friendly. The previous reviews don't give a true indication of what the place is like but like anything, it really depends on what you're looking for.

I had springs in the mattress pressing into my legs, there was no blanket on the bed and when I turned on the heater it cut out the fridge so no heat. There was an elderly man next door making strange noises. The room felt dark and depressing but staff were nice and you get what you pay for.

I stayed in the lodge for a month for a work course. It is modest accomodation, as you would expect given it is so much more affordable than other accomodation options.

The shared bathroom areas look new and were immaculately clean at all times. The kitchen area was also clean. The lodge was quiet and I slept well each night.

The staff were all friendly and helpful and lovely people. I would stay at the lodge again if in Sydney for an extended period.

Falcon Lodge is without doubt the worst place I've ever stayed. Booked for 1 week but left within 24hrs.
The room had 1 window (above the door) 60x45cm which obviously meant the room was dark. There was an overwhelming stench of damp. The WiFi was unusable it was so slow. The TV had a 'bunny ears' antenna & couldn't get reception. You see furniture in better condition on the road side on household clean up day. The other 'guests' were an interesting bunch. They enjoyed drinking, smoking, arguing etc - right outside my door. I actually checked out before I had found an alternative place to stay.

This place is half filled with feral or mentally-ill long-term residents who'd otherwise be homeless. I stayed out of desperation when I first arrived in Sydney in Jan, and quickly became quite badly bitten by Bed Bugs.. my room was eventually fumigated but the staff were really rude and uncaring. I was covered in painful bites.
The place is absolutely filthy.. cigarette butts and other peoples unwashed crockery in the kitchen. Many other 'guests' are actually permanent residents who can't afford to get a flat.. people with mental health problems and sleazy, chain-smoking low lives who sit around drinking and swearing at each other.
I've travelled a lot, and this place is the worst "lodge" I've stayed at by an order of magnitude.

Many people end up staying in this lodge because they can't find another place to stay. The single room in this lodge is dirty. Only thing that is used now and then is a vacuum cleaner, but the table, desk, wardrobe all need extra cleaning. Window is broken and also the refrigerator is not cleaned properly. The bed is oke with a clean set of sheets. That the only positive news.
The common room is even more disgusting. The kitchen smells and this smell comes from the freezer that is one big mess. They need a new freezer and refrigerator, because I think it is too dirty at the moment to be cleaned. Also the pans are damaged and old. For cooking you definitely need to buy your own pan and kitchen accesoires, because it is just terrible.
If you really can't find any place to stay, then this can be your only solution. I will never stay here again.

This is the last resort if you can't find anything else! The location is excellent - that's probably why they charge like 'wounded bulls' for the tariff!
The single room is dirty, the beds getting old, tiny sink and tiny wardrobe. The share showers are not properly cleaned and are filthy and mouldy! I bought sum exit mould and bam shower cleaner do I would catch something if I tool a shower! The laundry rooms have two, old clunker, washing machines and two dryers that are frequently in need of repair and again, this room is ...dirty! The ironing boards burnt and filthy (buy your own) and a tiny vacuum cleaner that's seen better days! (Buy your own)! The 'guests' are largely neglected, and the place run down, landlord makes a [--] of money! They seem to let anyone stay there (if they can afford it) - it's third world standard!

This place is in a fantastic location easy 8 min walk to Crows Nest Village restaurants, right across the road from a beautiful big park, bus stop to Chatswood, Northern Beaches, City within a 3 minute walk , A friendly family place and clean, the bathrooms get cleaned every day. I find the management very accommodating and friendly. This place is so cheap for the fantastic location. Rooms come in varying sizes. A great place for the family to stay.

I ended up in this one because at that time I did not find any other option. It was cheap $285/week. The manager was helpful when I have checked in but became rude later on ( and this was not only in my case) . Except a bus stop, this hotel is far from everything. If you ahve to reach station (North Sydney), Woolworths (Crows Nest), Coles (Neutral Bay) or any decent restaurant you have to walk for 20 minutes. I desparately started searching a permanent place for me and was happy to left the place within 2 weeks.
