Spoons type setup....food basic but nice enough. Feel that if you are serving food it should be in a seperate area. Staff friendly though....most definately not a country inn. Good location for passing through and would recommend for local drinkers.

We stopped by whilst travelling through Matlock with two dogs. We were pleased to be able to sit outside with them and enjoy a drink. Staff were all friendly and welcoming and offered a good value for money

Although we enjoyed our stay at the Duke of Wellington it really can't be considered a country inn. The rooms are separate from the pub which is an advantage and they are clean and comfortable although quite compact. Both the bar and dining areas are very compact with little room to manoeuvre as this premise appears very popular with locals....

2nd visit to this establishment. The food is very nice, plentiful and very affordable. The three of us were stuffed full, drinks and coffees after, and all for less than £30. The landlord was also very amicable and the ambience was really good. I know it's a well used saying, but this place really is worth a visit.

They offer a 2 for £12 menu but my wife and I went for the specials board. I had a lamb shank dinner at an amazing £6.95 and Jeanette went for the roast chicken...

Stayed here last weekend for one night in the family room. All the staff were very friendly and the room was very clean, great value for money. Beer was good and the food was ok in the pub, great base for exploring the Peak District. One negative and that has nothing to do with the pub, the people staying in...

Stayed here after a late meeting in the County Council offices (a must see if you are in town - converted old Victorian Spa hotel - but plenty of original charm remains) The 'pub' is located towards the top of the hill - I walked - but quite a physical thing to do. And 'pub with rooms' is what it...
