Visited with friends for lunch. The staff didn't seem very happy, food was ok but not brilliant, the food is cooked at the hotel and brought into the stables bar via the side door meaning your food is carried outside, not a good idea! Good for walkers good for people with dogs as they are allowed in the bar... Would...

We stayed here for one night with our dog. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had drinks and dinner in the stables bar with our dog lying next to the huge log burning stove. The food was excellent and there were several vegetarian choices. Our room was a good size and very comfortable, although a little dated. Our...

I gather the hotel is up for sale, so if you have one and a half million to spare then it could be yours. However, you will need to spend more to bring it up to scratch. A lick of paint here and there would not go amiss. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay there - the staff were...

We were out for the day in Derbyshire, initially at Castletown but the caves were flooded so we had a drive to Monsal Head, where the scenery is fantastic. Whilst there we decided to have some lunch at the hotel which did not open until 12 noon. We ordered our food and when it came it was very nice and...

We were staying down the road from here so made sure to pay a visit before and after the local walking routes. Unfortunately we only had drinks here, the menu is fairly bland and was over priced. I would advise people to walk a little further into Little Longstone or Great Longstone and hit a local venue for better quality...

Staff were friendly. Hotel in great location, beautiful views. Food was excellent in restaurant and stables bar next door. Bed was clean and comfortable, windows had drafts, storage heated rooms. Very dated rooms need refurb.

We hosted our wedding here. The staff were wonderful and very accommodating. The food was great and even allowed for people with bizarre food preferences. We booked out all the rooms for the wedding party and found them charming and exactly what you'd expect at an inn of this type. The staff were super helpful with recommending florists and other...

We dined here because it was reasonably priced, log fire, dog friendly and a great location, especially for walkers and visitors to the Peak District. Great view along Monsal Dale and the old railway line, sadly now only a route for walkers, cycles and horses, but no longer echoing to the sound of crack expresses to and from London and...

After a cold morning on the Monsal trail the stables bar was a welcome pit stop, It was baking hot inside with a red hot stove with no spare seats so we sat outside, ordered 2 sandwiches which were promptly delivered, very tasty with salad, crisps and coleslaw This is no frills hikers bar which seems well prepared when it's...
