After a dissappointing afternoon queuing for 45 minutes to park and then deciding not to pay the extortionate price to enter the mudbath of what appeared to be a washed out fairground (advertised as Bakewell Winter wonderland and traditional christmas market) had a wander around Bakewell itself. Enjoyed browsing in local shops and buying a few Christmas gifts. Discovered the...

thepeacockbakewell, The rainy days a man saves for they usually seem to arrive during his vacation at The Peacock Bakewell, responded to this review

....and why wouldn't you jochg2016, so in return we thank you! The carnival or Winter Wonderland - nothing to do with the patrons or Market of Bakewell I hasten to add, was a total wash out, but in their defence the weather was appalling and it takes a strong reasoning to put the blame entirely on the organisers. That said,...

We stayed at the Peacock for 2 nights and had a thoroughly lovely time. The food is amazing, we both choose from the specials board on the Friday night and the Saturday. The staff made our stay all the better, great chats and looked after us for the whole stay. I wanted to write this as so many people just...

Wow, when 186386Anne1234 aka Jenny & John come to TripAdvisor, she really knows how to spin the top, as she posts a lovely review on the lovely time she spent together with her friend and rock John! Thanks for your thoughts as you both knocked backed the Wine, and Guinness, and Peroni and whatever we could put in a Glass...

Bakewell is a honey pot for weekend visitors and therefore rooms come at a premium. However for £149 per night for a double room without breakfast is a little steep. They have decorated the rooms in what they think are tasteful Farrow and Ball colours. I personally love their paints and use them all the time however they just haven't...

thepeacockbakewell, If only closed minds came with closed mouths, at The Peacock Bakewell, responded to this review

When you finish off your little ditty Classylady61 with a statement "I wouldn't recommend going to Bakewell' - then I feel we are basically on a hiding to nothing, because where is your class coming from (oh yes self opinionated), because Bakewell is a beautiful little tourist town that I can't even imagine how many people come to the Peak...

We booked the Peacock for an overnight stay before a funeral. The room was comfortable and modern, in an annexe next to the main pub. There was a good shower, the room was well heated and the wifi was free. We had a good meal in the pub in the evening and the breakfast the next morning was superb -...

I was on a half term break with my five year old son and was staying in Bakewell. I had heard from other family members that the food in The Peacock was very good so decided to check it out for myself. Thomas D and the lad with personality in the flat cap - Yes Tom we remember you both and thank you for a wonderful, full and honest appraisal of our humble abode. You say it all really, so don't need to repeat this, that and the other, but you got it spot on, and hopefully we'll see you and the...

Visited the Peacock with a view to booking a long weekend in a few weeks time. It is a beautiful place, the menu looked fantastic and the food smelt and looked delicious. However at this time we just wanted a drink and some information. However we were not able to ask as the 'pub' was full and I went in...

thepeacockbakewell, The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about, at The Peacock Bakewell, responded to this review

Quite frankly Carol A I feel it it you that has an identity crisis and a slightly bitter attitude, because Guy the waiter was not rude in any shape or form. He was simply very stressed, as you rightly say the Peacock was full to the brim and he was working his butt off dealing with taking out food, clearing...

Your post is honest and respectful Graham J, so a Big Thank you on that level. A new visitor to Bakewell, I went to The Peacock on recommendation by a family member. It couldn't have been a better experience!
