I stayed here overnight this weekend. The room was very clean and well Worth the money. The landlady was very helpful and welcoming. She couldn't have done enough for us. Loved our stay and will definitely be back. Can't comment on breakfast as I was too drunk to wake up and sample it! 😕

Sunday lunch with friends..Despite there being a focus on the carvery, there were plenty of imaginative vegetarian options. Staff all very busy as the restaurant was full, but still managed to be friendly, helpful and polite. The atmosphere was good and the mushroom stroganoff the best I have ever tasted. Full marks, Craven Heifer.

we told the people we would arrive very late. They arranged to leave a key for our room and telephone us to tell us where it was left and see you in the morning. Breakfast was good, but no eggs !! just a continental brekkie. They were good as they allowed me to keep the room key till after 12...

The car park is large so no worries about parking. Easy check in, which is in the bar area. Friendly staff and we were shown to our room, not just given directions as the rooms are not situated in the pub but through separate entrance next door. The rooms are small but adequate for what is required for your stay,...

We visited last night, the food was really nice our main server Micheal was very helpful & polite but I can only assume the big fella was the owner, he was extremely rude, if you want to be this rude sir get a job in debt collecting not running a food establishment!! Overall a nice experience but the gentleman in...

The second time we have visited this place on the way home from York and we don't think you can get a better carvery for quality or price anywhere better. It's was so busy I don't really know how it all works or fits into place but it does ! Got seated straight away despite the crowds, the meat was...

Nice hotel and good food but owners very disrespectful towards guests and blatantly rude. Fire evacuation woke us up on Sunday morning and 6 of us stood outside in pyjamas but no one came out to advise what was happening so I went in and asked if it was a false alarm but was told not sure, so when questioned...

Imagine the fire alarm has just sounded. We have identified the source as a piece of burning toast but we are just resetting the fire panel. A customer approaches my wife and introduces herself as "a qualified fire officer" and goes on to tell us why we should evacuate the property despite the fact there is no fire. Not surprisingly...

We had a family reunion in the hotel and were all very impressed. All the rooms were beautifully turned out with everything we needed, clean and comfortable. We ate our evening meal and breakfast here as well and the consensus of opinion was that it was all fabulous. We would all definitely return and have already recommended it!

Called in with my wife as part of a 50th birthday lunch. Following a very poor starter and main course at The Angel, Hetton just up the road we called in for dessert and coffee. It was worlds apart. We were greeted warmly, orders taken quickly with a smile. Food arrived swiftly and my wifes pudding arrived with a massive...
