My wife grew up near here and we pass this pub regularly as it is en route from our house to the parents (in-laws in my case) As it was the start of our holiday, and we were staying at the parents'/in-laws', we thought we would have (I would have) a couple of beers in a rural pub before spending... Have been going to the Anchor & Hope for just over a year since we moved to the area and always found it busy and very friendly. Sadly, not so now due to awaiting a change over of management. The Girls seemed so sad. No beer this evening and the wine was getting very low. Emma had always been such... More

Thank you for your lovely but sad review sadly due to personal circumstances and the lack of help from the brewery it was decided to hand the Anchor back to Enterprise Inns and focus on my other business. I wish the new management all the luck. Kind regards Emma More

The rooms were both filthy - and needed a good clean - carpets a mess! Ants over the breakfast table and slug trails over carpets in restaurant area. These are a new couple so I'm told but whilst they were very friendly it's not enough - we only stayed one night & went to premier inn. Disappointing would recommend you... More

We stayed as had an early ferry to catch in the morning and we travelled from York. Dog friendly (they have their own dogs running around). Good points - they lady who cooked us breakfast in the morning she made us feel welcome. Good pub grub in the evening. Things to consider. The corridor is noisy and you hear everyone... More

We have been to this pub several times since the current owners took over and have been quite happy with the food. In fact I have been telling local friends that they should give it a try as it's so much better than it used to be. In particular we very much liked the tapas which is normally served all... More

Went in this evening as a pop in for something to eat. Was overwhelmed by the smell of cats' pee so didn't stop to try the food. The menu wasn't exactly comprehensive. This establishment has the location to be a thriving business but is wasted on its current owners.

This is a pub. It is not a hotel but my room was comfortable, well decorated and everything worked as it should. I had arrived to find the staff clearing up after torrential rain had flooded the lounge. No problem, just booked me in with a smile and carried on. Breakfast was as it should be too. Well presented and... More

On our way to a family event we stayed at the Anchor and Hope. We arrived late in the evening and ordered our food from what was a surprisingly small menu but everyone was pleased with the quality when it arrived at the table. The landing area and corridors to the rooms were very very dark, which I could see... More

Thank you for your review. As an old country pub, the sound proofing is a bit of a challenge, but as mentioned in previous responses, improvements to our accommodation and renovations are a constant work in progress. We take all feedback comments seriously, and thank you for taking the time to leave yours. More

The Anchor and Hope Public House located in the village of Ash, Kent, about two miles from Brands Hatch Racing circuit and four miles from Bluewater. The Anchor & Hope is an independent country pub run and owned by Emma Pearson & Benjamin Eldridge. Along with a great team of people our aim is to ensure that you have a good time, whatever your reason for visiting us. We have an extensive range of beers, wines and spirits and three well kept real ales for those of you who enjoy a good pint. If you are looking to dine with us then we have both a bar menu or a restaurant menu for you to choose from. We have a large patio area to the front and side of the pub and a very large garden. There is also plenty of parking so whatever your reason - a holiday or day out in Kent, a shopping trip to Bluewater, or a trip to Brands Hatch, why don't you pop in and see us? You can even stay the night in one of our en-suite bedrooms. We look forward to welcoming you to the Anchor and Hope in the near future. ... more   less
