Called in last Saturday for a drink and meal. This was our first visit, but hopefully not our last. Food was excellent and served quickly. My husband tells me it was an excellent pint of real ale, We were made to feel very welcome.

Old pub with restuarant and rooms. Queen Anne suite very quirky. Floor very creaky and sloping, and had door to outside stairs - also inside stairs from bar area. Bed very soft, so not as comfortable for us as it looked. Had dinner on first night with friends. As Valentines night, very busy and room was decorated with hearts and...

We visited for a family birthday, food and service were good. It was a little busy when we arrived and we waited for a bit to be shown our table but once seated everything was good. Reasonably priced and good size portions.

Everyone was served promptly and the staff were attentive without being obtrusive. For our main course we chose the Chinese style beef, it was melt in the mouth. For desserts I...

Ate here again 2 nights ago. Very well kept cask ales on sale. Landlord knows his business. Very good meal at a sensible price. I think I'm going to have to start making this my local. Great pub/hotel.

This is not a 4-star hotel so do not look for superior facilities, but my rating is given on the basis of really good value for money. I have stayed here twice and found the room and dining facilities to be very adequate. Service is friendly and helpful and the atmosphere of this old-style pub adds to the experience.
