We stayed in Miro - wow!! It was breathtaking from the views, the décor, the balcony and then you go through to the bathroom. Incredible. Everything about the property is wonderful and, of course, the restaurant is amazing. We loved that the chefs serve each course and explain the ingredients and explain how they are prepared. Each course was creative...

We stayed the night for a birthday treat. The food was sublime. 15+ courses but each a marvel and didn't feel over full at the end. Loved the Japanese influences, the local produce and the table ware. Our room was fabulous as are the grounds and the hotel. Best of all the staff are really friendly and unpretentious but know...

Such a beautiful and stylish boutique hotel! The check in went smoothly and the room we stayed was so beautiful, well decorated and had an amazing view. We had a dinner as well which I would highly recommend. Great customer service. The place itself was so relaxing and peaceful, can't wait to go back!

Hygge interior, fabulous friendly service and the food had an unexpectedly oriental inspiration, stunning! ❤ the cutlery and crockery. 9 course tasting menu for lunch, will definitely be returning to sample the epic dinner menu x

I booked a lunch taster menu (for three) last minute because the weather was abismal and we decided to postpone a visit to Portmeirion. The gods were on my favour! The food was first class as was the ambience and service second to none. Set in a stunning location, Ynys Hir has kept the grandeur of yesteryear with a contemporary...

This was our second lunch at Ynyshir although our first since their re-invention as a Restaurant with Rooms. I very much like the new design and decor which is classy without being fussy. As for the food it's still sublime. Light, fresh and utterly fascinating. There's a Japanese/Far Eastern twang to a lot of the dishes with miso and soy...

Third visit to this superb Restaurant. First time since it has been revamped. We had the 9 course taster lunch menu and it was superb. The food was gorgeous and the staff were friendly and attentive. They took the time to enter into conversation with us and were attentive at all times. Gareth Ward has got a brilliant team together...

What can I say. I have been here for lunch several times in the past but Ysynshir has recently undergone a transformation. The restaurant has been moved and there is a relaxed atmosphere (not that there was anything wrong with it before!) Staff were extremely friendly and food was excellent. We will definitely return in the not too distant future

With One Michelin star already you know that Gareth will serve up good food. What we did not know was that there would be elements of sheer genius as well. The emphasis on local food is almost de riverine these days but the twist to this with the pickling, fermenting and curing is amazing. Add to this the Japanese influences...

I and my adult son stayed and dined on Saturday 14th January. We have a great deal of experience in dining/staying in Michelin star establishments not only in the UK but in France, Italy (all the current 3 stars), Spain, Germany and Belgium. This stay was hugely successful and positive throughout in all ways. The booking was a package of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ynyshir is a five star restaurant with rooms near the Snowdonia National Park, Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. The Michelin Star restaurant at Ynyshir is one of Wales' best contemporary fine dining destinations and holds four AA rosettes - one of only two restaurants in Wales to hold this distinction. Michelin Star chef Gareth Ward serves alternative British tasting menus using the very best of Welsh and British produce. The menus showcase the best of Welsh ingredients following the seasons, such as Welsh Wagyu Beef and Anglesey Onions throughout the year, as well as locally foraged sea herbs from the estuary and greens from the woodland floor and Ynyshir's extensive gardens. During hunting season expect to see wild deer and local duck, grouse and partridge, and in summer Welsh Lamb from the Dyfi valley. Gareth and his team pickle, salt, ferment and preserve fruits, leaves and berries carrying the harvests through the winter and into the spring. Expect to see dishes such as 'Not French Onion Soup', 'Mackerel Sweet & Sour' and Gareths take on a Tiramisu all served alongside a carefully selected wine-list whilst overlooking the Cambrian mountains and Ynyshir's extensive gardens Ynyshir has a total of ten luxuriously furnished guest rooms, each with its own unique style and character. There are seven rooms within the main house and three deluxe rooms directly adjacent. Each guest room has an en-suite with a separate bath and shower and feature premium Temple Spa products. Most rooms offer views over the gardens and Cambrian Mountains. ... more   less
