Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had the carrot cake, and grilled chicken sandwich. Both were so good. The service was quick, a lot of people arrived at 1pm, but everyone looked happy. Lots of cool nicknaks to buy, the pigs were happy to have their social "beer". Great stop.

We stopped here on the way back from waterfalls, the open fires and snug feel to the place enticed us for lunch, lots of history on the walls. Typical pub grub, we enjoyed the pork sausages, thick gravy and vegetables. What let’s the place down is the service, the women who took our order clearly didn’t want to work here, no conversation, smile or anything. What happened to country hospitality, it’s clearly not found in this pub

Fantastic pub, with great charm. Memorabilia over all the walls. Friendly staff and a cosy relaxed environment. Camping for vans on a flat area with valley views. We fed Priscilla the pig water beer slops for a gold coin which goes the community. Just passi g, but a must see.

Had called into this place on several previous trips to Tasmania, and decided to do an overnight stay to fully appreciate the ambiance, booking by phone several months in advance due to the expected busy (Feb 2020) season.
On arrival, we were told we didn't have a booking, they didn't serve evening meals, and they would be closing at 4:00pm (it was approx 3:45pm). My trip plans showed dinner served from 5:30pm, and their website advertised dinner and accommodation available.
Won't be calling in there again until this arrogant individual drives himself out of business and a hospitality professional takes over.

We called in for lunch on our way through to the East Coast but were really dissapointed with our meals. The foccacia was two tiny squares of bread on the bottom with the toppings grilled on top and cost $15 (no chips or salad included). My partner ordered the pie with chips and gravy for $16 which included a store brought pie and under cooked chips. The place was cute and the staff seemed friendly but unfortunately we would not stop here again.

Wish we had not of stopped. Valley is beautiful and always wanted to stop at this iconic pub. Incredibly rude woman behind the counter, very overpriced frozen meals surrounded by millions of flies actually inside the pub. Dreadful, very disappointing. Will not be back.

Terrible food. Chicken Parma was a frozen schnitzel from woollies with canned tomatoes on-top and a huge chunk off unmelted cheeses .. Wont be eating here again. My partners meal wasn’t much better. Chips were no where near cooked enough. Payed for it all afternoon

Before I left my state NSW everyone told me the one thing to do while in Tasmania was to visit this location. It was then on my bucket list to have a meal there, give the pig a beer, sit by the fire with intentions of having quite a few plus doing a free camp at there camp site for the night. So after towing the van through the mountains I'd driven 300 kilometres that day only to arrive to find the gates shut & the business not open. Pissed off to say the least. I checked there website earlier that day & nothing was mentioned they would be closed. Spoke to 4 other couples at the Cheese factory & they all intended to visit the pub & felt the same as I did. Not a good visit & No I won't be going back either.

The service was perthetic they held my card out of sight for over 5 minutes.

For a State that is known for its great food how can this place go so wrong? Ordered the sweet potato frittata with salad ($24) and asked if it contained tomato or capsicum. Was told no. It comes out and the salad had capsicum all over it and when I cut into the frittata guess what? Yep capsicum. When I took it back they were happy to replace but after this and seeing my partners meal asked for a refund.

My partner ordered the surf and turf with mash and veggies at a staggering $49 and asked for a
medium/done steak. Mash was cold and the steak full of fat and thin as. No way they should be charging $49.

We also ordered 2 x lemon lime and bitters. As it’s a pin you expect freshly made ones. But no. Pre-mixed and not a decent one.

Overall extremely disappointing and staff didn’t seem to want to be there.
