Having sampled a few walks in Tasmania, my wife and I had the Overland Track on our bucket list. Being in our 50s, we wanted to walk in a guided group, enjoy some creature comforts and have plenty of time to take photos, so we decided on the Cradle Mountain Huts/Tas Walking

I’ve done this trek with Cradle Huts/Tasmanian walking company three times over the past twenty years. I chose it because it meant I didn’t have to carry food and camping equipment for a week (as I have a dodgy back) and originally because I was travelling alone .This time I

Hi janeB5054NC, Thanks so much for your wonderful review and for walking with us on the Overland Track three times! It is great to read that you managed to enjoy your photography without feeling rushed. Our guides are an amazing bunch of people who work really hard to ensure everyone has the best possible time out on the track and are able to focus on their specific interests. I hope you are able to travel back to Tassie for some more walking adventures at some point but understand it is a long way for you to travel. All the best, Ros

The accommodations on this 6-day guided hike of the Overland Track exceeded my expectations. The huts were warm, roomy, comfortable, and quiet (you did not hear much noise from the other rooms). We had warm showers every evening (on a 5 minute timer) and were able to hand-wash

At the end of the trip, I said to my partner, I am going to review this trip, which rating you would give. He said let's write down a number and exchange. Thirty seconds, without surprise, both of us gave the cradle mountain huts walk 5/5. The Overland track in the cradle

Hi there, The guides are really good at allowing for people to walk at their own pace. The group can spread out and generally there will be 1 guide toward the front of the group and 1 toward the back. Sometimes the faster walkers may need to wait for the group to catch up but it generally works itself out without becoming an issue. At lunch stops the lead guide will boil some water for hot drinks etc so people can keep warm. I hope this helps. Cheers,

In our group people walked at different paces but it wasn't a problem - never too long a wait, and besides, the waiting points were usually for a morning or afternoon snack, or lunch, and in a spot that was relaxing and pleasant to be in. The guides generally ensured that one of them was with the front group and the other near the back. Not much dawdling!

Hi Jim, Great idea for a 40th birthday. I think everyone else has answered this for me - average age is generally between 40 - 65, groups do vary though. Cheers, Ros
