Having spent the last few months self isolating within our bubbles it was with a great sense of apprehension our family decided not to cancel our holiday to Newfield cottages. And I can't express what a great decision this was. The utter joy the children got from living on a farm for a week, feeding the horses was an unforgettable memory for us all. There was enough space inside and out that we only needed to venture out for food shopping, enabling to self isolate. The cleanliness of the place also helped alleviate any worries we had about contracting covid. The well stocked kitchens, the beautiful countryside, the attention to detail within the cottages gave our family a week of feeling normal and not think about the outside world.
We spent an enjoyable weekend with family at Rose Cottage. It's peaceful and secluded but still within 10 minutes of shops and eateries. The track up is very bumpy, but as long as you drive carefully and slowly it's fine. The cottage is comfortable with a modern kitchen and a big dining table inside and out. A games room with table tennis table and games keeps the kids and big kids amused. The host is welcoming and baked us a delicious cake for our arrival which was a lovely thought. If the owners refitted bathrooms (are clean just a little dated) then I would have given 5 stars to this property.
Forget-Me-Not-Cottage is in a remote location making it ideal for those seeking solitude who enjoy country walks. Access to cottage is via a narrow lane with the last 500m being a rough farm track more suitable for tractors or SUV's than family cars. While the cottage is comfortable its maintenance is questionable. During our stay we found the dishwasher was not working properly (something already reported on the agents web site in March 2018). Also, worryingly, several power plugs on kitchen appliances had out of date Safety Test labels on them. In summary some TLC and a good spring clean would not go amiss. Note the agents Sykes were contacted ref above points.
We stayed in Rose Cottage for a week at the end of July - 6 adults, 5 children and a dog. Plenty of space indoors with two sitting areas, each with a television, so never in each other’s way. Kitchen very well equipped and we never ran out of crockery etc. Having two dishwashers was a real help when catering for large numbers. Children enjoyed the freedom of the fields outside the front door and the swing and slide. Also a Games Room situated next door to the Cottage with table-tennis and other activities. Owner was very helpful. The road leading to the cottages is very rough so could only drive extremely slowly but the peace and quiet of being so far in the countryside was worth the drive! Would certainly recommend for a peaceful self-catering holiday, particularly for larger groups.…
Stayed here with a big group of friends for a wedding that was going on nearby for a weekend. The cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable, and well equipped for a large group of 13 adults and two babies. Really lovely setting surrounded by fields and with horses just next door. Very peaceful. Lucy was very helpful when booking the reservation, even going so far as to help organise someone to receive a Tesco delivery for us on the day of our arrival which was really useful. Only slight drawback is the location, as it is very far from the nearest station if you don't have your own car (£45 in a taxi), but no problem if you are driving.
