We spent one week in maratua islands, we sleep 3 days in maratua guesthouse and 3 days in nunukan. If we visit the island again we will sleep in nunukan all the days, the price-quality ratio is much better. Much better to stay in nunukan and go to visit maratua in a day trip.

Last weekend we have returned from our holiday and from Nunukan Island resort. I would like to comment on a dishonest, disrespectful and childish review from 2 other guests in regards to the male Swiss Manager. We were one of the few guests at Nunukan Island resort when a group of 30 Asian guests arrived at the island for a...

We spent one week at the Maratua island. We stayed in the lovely Maratua Guesthouse and spent four days diving with Nunukan. Amelia (Maratua Guesthouse) and Susanne (Nunukan) helped us arrange this. Jan did his first Open Water Diving course which was handled very professionally, with patients and pleasure. We both enjoyed many beautiful dives together with our friendly guide...

Its a hidden gem in Derawan. If you're looking for peace and quietness, this is the place to stay. This resort was remotely located somewhere near maratua. The room is quit standard but comes with extraordinary view. Aircon is bit hot tho. The villa facing the white sand and the clearest water that calls you to dive in. When we...

I loved the diving - didn't see Manta's but that is the nature of diving. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Plenty of food on offer and being gluten free did not seem to be an issue. The rooms were great and the diving better!

It certainly is a trek to get to the resort, even travelling from Asia it took 4 flights to ensure minimum layovers. Having been diving around Asia for many years the resort is certainly remote. We used Jakarta as our entry point into Indonesia and used Garuda for the flight Jakarta – Balikapan – Berau. We were over weight as...

We spent 13 days in Nunukan in August with our daughters. Very nice small island. Marvellous lagoon in front of bungalows with 1.6 km jetty connecting Nunukan to a second island. Only by walking on the jetty you can see plenty of turtles swimming. We were so lucky to see big turtle going back to water after dropping eggs and...

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this lovely, secluded resort. It was a long slog to get there, the pay-off being that you really do feel as though you've found one of the few places in the world that are truly special in their peace and isolation. The title of this review comes from the fact that the dive...

Thank you Frogfish 2015 for your lovely feedback. We are very happy that we could satisfy you regarding the vegan kitchen. It was until today the first time we accommodate vegan guests and to be honest, our chef was quite nervous until he actually realized what this means ;-)

We spent 6 nights on Nunukan in April and it exceeded all of our expectations. It is a bit of a mission to get to but well worth it. The resort is very well run and maintained, rooms were excellent (although the AC was a bit lame) with fantastic views of the beach and lagoon. The restaurant does plentiful, good...

Small Island on the border of the atoll, connected with a 950 km jetty to another island. Perfect to go running or for a walk where you will see turtles, morays and lots of fish from the jetty, as well as an amazing sunset. The construction of the resort is done with no impact on the island itself and you...

Thank you Stephan for your feedback. There is really a proper jogging on the jetty and all the way trough the neighbor island, even the jetty is only 950 m long ;-) many guest also go there in the night to see the amazing stars in the sky.
