The lake side location of this hotel is great. However, the hotel lobby is currently under renovation, and therefore the windows and curtains are constantly closed, turning the main lobby and restaurant area into a sauna. However, the newly renovated rooms are very good, and the bathrooms are top notch. The food is not really very great, basic buffet dinner... More

This was one hotel chosen to stay for the night on our office trip. First i did not have a good impression since its build some time back and read some bad reviews about it. And insisted my manager and the rest of the people to shift rooms to some other hotel. However we had to spend the night at... More

An old hotel now undergoing a large extension & the rooms have yet to be done. Food was served in a huge ballroom style restaurant, a long way from the kitchens so arrived cool. Quality of food not brilliant e.g Beef Stroganoff was made with chopped smoked sausage which was almost inedible!

We spent 1 week doing an Ayurveda treatment at Centauria lake resort. We were welcomed warmly and all the staff was very considerate, friendly and helpful. The room was nice with a balcony overseeing the the beautiful lake. The food was excellent. We got a diet according to Ayurveda principles comprising authentic Sri Lankan food. The treatments were excellent and... More

I agree with the comments that this hotel is OK for overnight stay but I would not want to stay here for a longer period. The rooms are quaint and quite big but very out of date and could do with a complete modernisation. The bathroom was huge with wet-room type shower but again very old and tatty. Because the... More

I can only gather from some of the other reviews that we were very lucky here. We did choose a superior room and thus got a large and clean room with a balcony and views over the lake. Limited choice at dinner but the food was well cooked and service was willing if slow. My wife had her best night's... More

Don't get me wrong - I wasn't expecting anything amazing. But even with low expectations I was very very disappointed. the room was FILTHY. dead flies and bugs all down the side of the bed. cockroaches, lizards and misc insects in the room. a dark red stain on the bed (probably blood). the shower looked like it was from an... Only stayed here one night en route to safari. Very quaint and cheerful - The staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are huge, albeit very outdated, the only downside is they smell really badly of damp. Bathroom very outdated but again huge - shower huge. Lovely balcony with soft seating. Stayed on a full board basis, and dinner... More

I stayed here as it was the closest place to the Uda Walawe National Park (however, I did note that a new larger hotel has recently opened nearby - Safari Hotel?). I found the hotel facilities to be extremely out of date, furniture, towels and bedding tatty and the room unpleasant. My bath had hairs in it, and everything in... More
