All the good things that others have said about La Licorne and Isabelle are true. She is an excellent and hospitable host, the meals were delicious, she is generous with the homemade wines, the local wines are spot on, and the cold buffet breakfasts have an amazing selection of her pastries and other delicacies. Isabelle also helped to arrange last...

We were booked in for a five night stay early in the season, and on arrival at around 5:30pm we were greeted by Isabelle and offered a welcome drink. She then took us around the property and showed us to our room in the 17th century building. The room was beautifully equipped with a small en-suite toilet and shower, and...

We loved La Licorne. When we arrived for our 5 night stay we were offered a welcoming drink and had a nice talk with Isabelle, our hostess, in the lovely garden. She speaks very good English and was very patient with our miniscule amount of French. The accommodations were perfect; sparkling clean with comfortable beds and linens. We could not...

If you want to spend a day or a week in this unspoilt part of the Dordoigne then there is only one place to stay and that is here at La Licorne. Even though we arrived rather late due to the delights of rush hour Bordeaux, we were welcomed by the ever smiling Isabelle and her charming husband Herve. Within...

From the moment Herve welcomed us with refreshments in the garden, our stay at La Licorne was delightful. Our room in the 12th century building was elegant and comfortable, and the grounds with pool, romping dog, and flowing stream made us feel like manorial lords. Best of all was the magnificent dinner prepared by Isabelle: five aperitifs made from her...

La Licorne is one of only a few buildings in the picturesque village of Valojoulx, around a 10-minute drive from Montignac. The accommodations, hospitality and overall experience were among the best we have had in France, and we highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay at La Licorne. We were on a self-guided bike trip through Dordogne, and this was a quiet, lovely reprieve after long days of biking. The rooms are simple but nicely-appointed, and the pool, ping pong, and soccer-playing dog made our kids (13 and 16) very happy. The food was excellent and very, very plentiful. The...
