We stayed here recently for a couple of nights and would not hesitate to stay again. I think of this as a local's pub. It's quite basic but comfortable. We spent the first evening in the bar. There is a good range of local beers which at about £3.50 a pint are pretty reasonable. The staff and the locals we...

We visited the Carew Arms whilst staying nearby, there were 13 adults (one in a wheelchair) 2 babies. We were made so welcome, called and asked questions beforehand as there were so many of us and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, plenty of it, all freshly cooked and a great choice. We had a lovely afternoon...

Stayed one night. Great public bar, very friendly locals and delightful landlady and staff. For this, I'd give 5 stars. However, the bedroom and bathroom were ok, but a bit tired - the bed was a bit too soft and the shower was hard work! The dining room is a bit soulless - probably fine in summer when it's buzzing...

We visited the Carew Arms for Sunday lunch after they featured in The Guardian "20 Great Autumn Walks and Pubs". The walk over The Quantocks was fab, but took longer than we thought and so we arrived late. We phoned ahead and they kept the kitchen open which was very kind. Food was good and hearty - just what was...

A group of us were staying nearby and the staff were so helpful in arranging for us to be able to eat lunch together There were 27 in the party so not a small number to accommodate but they did. Sometimes in such circumstances the food can be below par but not so at the Carew Arms. The meat was...

What a jewel of a find! We called in on spec with no table booked. We sat in the snug for about half an hour, because they were really busy. We ordered a starter and main because we hadn't eaten all day. The food was amazing, massive portions, freshly cooked and delicious. We had blanchebait and prawn cocktail, huge portions,...

Lovely lunch. Massive portions. Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced wine list. So fed up with being ripped off in pubs and outside catering venues. If their rooms match their dining room, worth stopping over!

Lovely traditional pub with a great atmosphere, lovely staff and great food, the room was perfect for our small family with a travel cot and lovely blankets provided so all had a good night sleep. There's a great varied menu with a specials board, all dishes were lovely especially the molten chocolate pudding with ice cream!!

We booked last minute with late rooms for two nights. When we arrived we were given a very warm welcome by Helen. Had a lovely dinner from the lite bites menu cooked by Henry. Room was comfortable and clean with coffee tea biscuits and bottled water. Lovely breakfast both mornings served by a very cheerful Sandra. On the second night...
