Lovely place, full of atmosphere. We have just had two days here and loved every minute, such a warm welcome when we arrived which continued through our stay. We had both evening meals in the bar, the second night was spent in front of the roaring fire which we really appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble for the young man...

A comfortable Inn tucked away in the heart of Newlands Valley. Don't follow your sat nav - it'll take you straight past it ;0) Great place to drop in for walkers and cyclists. Good and varied menu for snacks and main meals. Our deal included a 3 course evening meal on our first night as well as breakfast both mornings....

Thanks for your review. Glad you liked the food, the friendly staff, and you found your room comfortable. I think maybe you were here when we were tinkering with the central heating - come again - it'll be like a hothouse! Lucinda on behalf of Ben and Sharon

Another excellent stay at the Swinside Inn. Very comfortable weekend, fantastic hospitality, excellent food all cooked perfectly (i'm a veggie with food allergies) plus 3 very happy dogs. Only complaint the weather but its the lake district and therefore expected! ☺ we love it here and have already booked our next trip 10/10.

Went for a short 2 night stay with my husband in January.Really lovely stay. It snowed over the weekend which was a real bonus. The room had a fabulous view of Catbells and was wonderful to wake up to on both mornings. Breakfast was excellent as were the evening meals. We ate at the Inn on both nights. It was...

Fell upon this hotel by chance and was so pleased we did. Arrived quite late on Saturday evening and just relaxed and had a lovely dinner - restful and quiet nights sleep in a basic, but comfortable, family room. We were blessed with the weather on Sunday, bright sunshine, so we had a lovely breakfast and then headed out to...

Thanks for the review Gerard. I did try to get you a room for this weekend again, but just couldn't squeeze you in. Shame, cos the weather here is great at the moment. No coat weather in March! Lucinda on behalf of Ben and Sharon

I stayed over here for two nights. The staff were helpful and friendly and the evening meal I ordered was fantastic. However the Robinson room was a bit dilapidated and there was no TV reception. The Catbells room was nicer but cold even with the radiator and electric heater full on, the TV worked but was very small. Wi-fi was...

Hi there Thank you for your kind words about the staff and food at about this 17th century inn. I can confirm that the rooms have been checked for TV reception and that they're a comfy temperature and I must admit that those thick old walls do sometimes gives us problems with the WIFI -it's something that we've been working...

We stayed at the Swinside over the weekend and were made very welcome from the outset. We were really impressed at the size of our room (Causey Pike), it was a family room with a separate part with bunks ideal for kids, though we were child free this time it is definitely a place we will bring the kids next...

Thanks very much for your long and detailed review. There's plenty to do with kids, whether it's walking down by the beck and collecting beasties, to nearby GO Ape, to Puzzling World, to canoeing or sailing on Derwentwater, to rock climbing and ghyll scrambling. Actually the list is endless. Hope you get to try it Lucinda, on behalf of Ben...

Well, here we have another return visitor - thank you! We really appreciate your review of the pub and the area - it sounds like you did all the things I would do - low level walks, mountain walks, saunter into Keswick, and a taxi back (or maybe I would have the taxi back for different reasons...) Thanks for the...

We stayed here as a family of disparate adults and a dog who are all well acquainted with The Lakes and its many inns. The Swinside must rate as one of the very best. Brilliant location with easy access to many walks out of the front door, views of Catbells, Causey Pike and Barrow from the rooms named after them,...

Thanks for the review Claire. A first trip to the Lake District is never forgotten - next thing you know, you'll have joined the very large band of folk who've visited at least once during every year for 20 years! The mountain views from Causey are amazing, it has a bath - much craved by weary walkers - and will...
