I booked and paid for accommodation here during the Xmas break through Stayz. The booking was confirmed and my money taken swiftly but from then on I could not contact Iain to get directions, confirm which lodge I was in or how to gain access. His daughter said he’d gone away!!! Needless to say we didn’t make the drive from Sydney. Stayz could not contact him either and said they will be sending him a warning. I’ll be charging the costs back through my bank. Sounds like the previous owners were great but this clown should not be in business.AVOID.
Awesome place to visit, with tonnes of relaxation and downtime on offer. The property has a lot on offer, although does need a bit of maintenance, which the really nice new owners seem to be working on. The cottage was great and offered all we needed. The outdoor bath was A++!
This place is truly a hidden gem, my husband & I enjoyed a much needed weekend away in the Blue Wren Cottage. We were welcomed by the lovely hosts and felt at home straight away. Our cottage was wonderful; fully equipped, cosy and clean with the log fire to relax by. Our courtyard set in the bush located on the side of a hill overlooking the valley with our private two person spa the highlight for us to relax and spend the cold winter evening in. The breakfast basket & loaf of fresh home baked bread was scrumptiously enjoyed. The game room was fun with a game of pool or darts, we also got the chance to feed the animals and canoe around the river. This is a must visit place for couples to getaway and spend some quality time away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday life. Thank you Iain & Issaya we will certainly be back soon…
My partner and I stayed in Blue Wren over two nights. It was a perfect combination of romance, relaxation and peaceful. Beautifully placed up in the bush with an outdoor spa under the stars was breathtaking. Diane is a great host with yummy breakfasts and FRESH BAKED BREAD daily. Highly recommend, we will be back.
Nestled amongst the trees, overlooking a serene valley with the river in their backyard, wonderful birds and animals, where the only sounds are of the birds and bees and the occasional bikers zooming through the hills close by. Located close to Bob Turners trail inside the Wollemi National Park - a wonderful and mildly challenging trail to the upper reaches of river Colo. We stayed at the Lyrebird Lodge - a superb self contained cottage with a verandah overlooking valley. The breakfast, which was part of our stay, was fresh and hearty consisting of eggs from the farm and hot loaf of bread baked by our lovely host Diane, amongst other things. With the nearest town, Windsor being 20km away, we had requested pizza for dinner on one night and Jim and Diane made us the most amazing vegetarian pizza in their wood fired oven and this was followed by the most awesome dessert pizza of warm apples & cinnamon with custard and vanilla ice cream!! Thank you Diane & Jim for making our stay at Ossian Hall so memorable. We will always cherish your warm hospitality and wonderful company. :)…
I came across this place on the web almost by accident. I am so glad I did. This is one of those special places that linger in one's memory long after the visit is over. We stayed in the Lyrebird suite. The room is quite large if a little dated, and has great views over the farm and the valley. We enjoyed a quiet stroll around the farm in the late afternoon, enjoying the animals and the river and, in particular, the plentiful bird life (both native and caged). This is a very peaceful and quite beautiful setting. Given the relative isolation of this place (Windsor is the nearest town, about 20 km away), I had chosen to include the seafood platter option. This was not really necessary as the suites each have a fully equipped kitchen. But what a great idea it turned out to be. A three-course dinner was served by our hosts, Jim and Diane, in our room. It was highlighted by a platter of seafood that was truly sumptuous. Despite our both being great lovers of seafood, there was no way could eat everything. So Diane provided a container to allow us to take he excess with us the following day. A great touch! We will certainly try to find some way of returning to Ossian. But next time it will be for more than just a single night.…
My partner Justin and I had an incredible stay. Jim & Diane are so lovely & hospitable & made sure we had everything we needed :) They even let us check out a little later which gave us a chance to not have to rush as much & really just cemented how we'd enjoy a longer stay next time :) I loved everything about Ossian Hall Valley Retreat - besides the location & our a condition, it was nice to be able to talk to Jim when booking & know that our pizzas for dinner would all be sorted, be greeted on our arrival & shown around by Diane & be able to have a chat before heading home :) The location is breathtaking, surrounded by stunning bushland. We stayed in the Bower which had a balcony overlooking the views & came with its own private BBQ area. The room was lovely with a big sized comfy bed with satin sheets (inspired me to order done myself), a cute kitchen & the bathroom had a two person spa! We had everything we needed for our stay...a bottle of bubbly & chocolates for the evening (complimentary), we ordered the wood fired pizzas (which Jim makes - very reasonable prize, great to share & absolutely delicious) for dinner & my partner is a chef so he turned the ingredients of our basket into one hell of an omelette with crunchy bacon & sausages (all provided). There's a games room as well which has a selection of DVDs to choose from that you can watch in your room. We played a game of pool & although the sauna & jacuzzi looked inviting we didn't get a chance to enjoy them this time...kayaks, jacuzzi & rematch of pool are all on the cards for our next trip!! Can't wait to come back!! …
My husband arranged a surprise birthday weekend and arranged for us to stay in the Lyrebird Villa complete with three course dinner and daily breakfast basket. Jim and Diane were excellent hosts and very helpful. Our room and outlook was spacious and very clean and a little dated but that did not effect our stay. We enjoyed the billiards shed and made good use of the spa/ sauna room to soak the days stress away. Jim also helped us with their kayak which we used for a cruisy paddle up the Colo River. What a little slice of heaven they have. A great place to kick back and unwind.
Spent a long weekend here at the tail end of winter. The hosts, Jim and Di, have a wonderful set of accommodation. Everything you needed was available in the cabins, down to torches, umbrellas and backpacks to take hiking. Fully stocked kitchen and a very generous breakfast tray (with home made bread) delivered every morning. Perfect secluded get away, and a great opportunity to kayak along the Colo.
We stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday in September 2013. We also love kayaking and took our own kayaks to explore the Colo River which is truly beautiful. It is a brilliant place with exceptional hosts and very comfortable and spacious accommodation. Comfy bed and loved the spa and balcony. We liked cooking our own (very generous) breakfast on the great little BBQ and the log fire was a real treat. If you want to lower the blood pressure and enjoy the bush and river it would be hard to beat. Thanks Jim and Diane for all the thoughtful details like candles, gift of wine and birthday photo . Best B&B we have ever stayed at.
