Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked accommodation for work when I came down to the Gold Coast and I am stoked with the service provided by the Chancellor Team. The girls at reception were lovely and very helpful upon my arrival. My room was tidy and had all the necessary equipment and utilities. I will definitely be booking there again when I’m needed on the Gold Coast for work or even as a holiday!

My wife and I have stayed here twice now and we will be returning for another visit in the not too distant future! We recently enjoyed a one bedroom apartment for 4 nights. Great rates, great facilities and lovely service, staff are always friendly and helpful. The pool and gym is like a mini retreat and we spent our afternoons with a couple of drinks watching the sun set. Sunrises are a must too! Thank you once again, we look forward to visiting again soon! ☺️

After finding myself at a short end, I booked online for what I thought would be an upmarket apartment for two nights. This is where our story begins.

After arriving at 5.30pm I was told that my original room was not ready and I was being given a room with elevator access. I was then told that there may be housekeeping coming in to take care of minor jobs during my stay. When I asked how much work was to be done, I was told it was just to wipe the windows which had some marks on them. I explained this was not required and I could handle some dirty windows. If only this was the only discomfort to handle.

The room has chipped paint around light fixtures and internet portals are falling off the wall. The fan fixture in the bedroom had no knob meaning it was Russian roulette as to whether you were going to be sweating from a slow setting or blown out the room like a cyclone had just formed.

Sitting on the couch was about as entertaining as going to movieworld. The cushions on both couches all had broken springs, which when sat on, at the wrong angle, would have you feeling like you just rode Lethal Weapon.

The couches, lampshades and blinds all need replacing as a deep clean won’t remove the perpetual stains.

The shower is that built up with calcium, is that there are 4 streams of water, which covers the roof, the floor, the wall and the bathtub, unfortunately not one stream hits the body.

I believe the room had just been returned from a long term rental and as a result it had not been properly inspected before being used again. But for the cost of the room for the weekend, I would have expected the room to be presented a little better.

The staff at reception were friendly enough. However housekeeping and management both need to take some responsibility for the rooms they are letting the public into.

It ia a terrible experience , I wish I never come to this place. You can see some trash on the floor, the bathroom was so disgusting ,and the service was terrible .How outrageous charging 145 dollars per day for using the wifi! What a filthy business! If the staff had been more courteous the entire experience would have been more berable but even that was lacking. You better book a cleaner hotel rather than this.

They failed to register the booking in their system and since they have no reception desk we couldn't get off the street! We spent an hour trying to resolve the problem with a person on the other end of the phone and then gave up and stayed at the Mercure (fantastic hotel).

Oh, The Chancellor were more than happy to charge my credit card for the room even though they stuffed up the booking - we have spent weeks trying to get a refund but they still refuse to pay up.

I stayed at this apartment severals times 2 years ago and I was quite satisfied with the overall experience. Very unfortunately, everything seemed different this time. The apartment is under new management now. The new receptionist was unfriendly and the manager was fishy. I had to pay 50 dollars extra as I arrived too early to check in. The room I stayed in wasn't cleaned properly, I made complaints to the receptionist who didn't show any care. I don't think I'll ever come back.

The front desk was very inefficient, and unprofessional. I went to check out at 8:30am (Reception opening time), the receptionist arrived at 8:50. When I was ready to finalise the check out, a couple just came in, and the receptionist just ignored me and started to deal with the couple so I had to wait for another 10 mins.

The bathroom wasn't very clean and during night time the apartment was quite noisy, I hardly got any sleep. I don't recommend this establishment.

The whole experience was just awful. The bathroom was not properly cleaned and the microwave was dirty. When I made my complain to the receptionist, she just simply shifted the responsibility to the housekeeping. I will never come back to here again.

$195 a night. Unhelpful reception experience - no information provided about where the car park is or how to access the apartments. Both bedside lights in the bedroom did not work. The TV did not work. The bathroom tap dripped/ran all night (washers need replacing) and nearly drove me mad.
