We found this gem by accident after a very wet & blustery walk in the whinlatter forest. We were 4 adults & a 2 year old looking for some good food and drink..we were not disappointed!!! Excellent food, huge portions & friendly welcoming staff even though we were all dripping wet!! Defo be going there again on our next visit...

Spent a few days here last week on the recommendation of some friends. The hotel is dog friendly and very welcoming. Room spotlessly clean. Food excellent and good value. Highly recommended. Will visit again!

Me and my wife stayed overnight on 17th April en route to a tour of Scotland and we loved the Coledale Inn. Greeted with a welcoming smile we were shown to our room overlooking the village of Braithwaite. The room was clean and tidy, plenty big enough and had a single as well as a double bed. OK, the en-suite...

We had a room in the Annexe, Room was large and spacious. The toilet and shower very small. Breakfast in the main good, coffee sometimes comes in the teapot and on 2 mornings were served overdone sausage. The lounge bar with an open fire, great food and dogs made welcome, Lovely views. Pleasant staff

After being refused entry at the Royal Oak the other local pub in Braithwaite, we walked up the hill to the Coledale arms, and what a lovely reception and afternoon we had. Ten of us and 4 dogs, all soaked to the skin seeking pub lunches, beer and a chance to warm up and dry out, we were not disappointed....

We visited as part of a large group (37 - occupying the whole hotel) for the 2nd year and we were not disappointed. The rooms are lovely with some amazing views.. Staff are all welcoming and friendly. The choice of food was amazing and the portions were so large we struggled to cope with 2 courses at dinner. There are...

We have returned once again to the Coledale Inn, as usual the hotel is warm and friendly. Our dog just loves it here with so many near bye walks to keep him happy. This year his main walk took him up Castle Crag, with some fabulous views over Borrowdale. The staff at the hotel are super, the meals as always first...

Great reception for our group of friends and all our dogs. Really helpful and friendly staff and the dog friendly rooms were of a really high standard. They have some really good two/ three day deals and we will certainly be going back later on this year.

Our group of 10 friends have been going in February for many years so I don't feel the need to write a review every year as it is always reliably great. Comfortable, caring, good food, excellent staff - everything you would want. But, this year an extra 'hug' for them and the whole region, having soldiered on after the horrendous...

I was one of a party of six walkers and dogs that have just returned from a two night stay. No large screen TV or usb sockets. But, more than compensated for by offering excellent hospitality, warm fires, good selection of beers and no-nonsense food. The rooms are very clean, warm, comfortable beds and a decent shower made for an...
