Omg!! I’ve stayed in lots of caravan parks and this one must be up the top. We were just looking for somewhere to stay for the night, and we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. It was actually better than a motel, and way cheaper. Apartments are separate and very quiet. Amenities such a pool, jumping pillow eg also look amazing for kids.

I ended up upgrading to one of the sea spray 2 bedroom cabins in the back corner (nice and quite) once we arrived as the first cabin/room I had booked was quite small for 2 adults and 4 kids, although in a great location right by the pool.
Bed in the main room was comfortable, having the toilet and bathroom separate was convenient with 4 kids aged 10, two 7 year olds and a 4 year old.
Kitchen was a good size, although there was no pantry/cupboard so everything took up majority of the bench space making preparing meals a little bit harder but we managed.
The kids enjoyed riding their scooters between the pool, jumping pillow, arcade room and outdoor cinema. Safe to say they enjoyed our 3 day getaway and were well worn out at the end 😊

West Beach has some of the biggest Powered sites we have used, whicj is great when you have a big family. There are 2 different activity areas which cater for all the kids and we loved the pop up food vans during our stay ( not sure if they are there alll the time, but the strawberry pancake van was awesome ).
Powered sites were well located in relation to amenities blocks which were always nice and clean.
Private easy access gates straight out onto the boardwalk along the beach was really handy.
This is a great place to stay to relax and is not that far from the CBD ( 15-20 minute drive ) compared to elsewhere.
Would recommend it anyone.

We decided to do the "travel local" trip for school holidays, and with the easing of the restrictions we were confident West Beach Caravan Park would be a good option as they have loads of amenities for the kids and a very well serviced park. We had some pretty awful but predictable weather last night so I popped off to the laundry this morning to dry some blanket and other gear that got wet. The closest laundry was closed so I went to the office to ask that it be opened as the next closest was a hike and with heavy wet blankets. They said yes,it would be open, they'd send the a maintenance person to open and it. I waited an hour, still not open, rang the office to be told it wouldn't be opened because, of the covid virus and not enough people to clean (that's a concern as we are using other amenities and does that mean they aren't being cleaned), then I was told they were in the process of making changes, clearly that wasn't the case then I was told it was going to be upgraded. they then referred me to another laundry and told me they'd put up signs on the closed laundry. At this time of year, with kids in toe a laundry within reasonable distance from our van is essential. If the amenities are not going to open in our part of the park then tell me at the time of booking and don't charge full price. Don't make excuses that just don't stack up. Not our favourite park by a long shot, would consider other options next time.

I’ve come here before and stayed in the bungalow which from when I booked sounded like what I was booked into again
.. so I went to the first entrance and tried to checkin and double checked where I would be staying for two nights. I was then informed that I was at the wrong entrance and had to drive further down to caravan park and cabin entrance as I was booked into an executive cabin.
Was annoyed that I wouldn’t be staying in what I thought I booked into , tried explaining what room I would like to be staying in instead but was just told that I booked the wrong room and must go to the cabin I booked and wasn’t given a chance to have something organised as I was just told to leave and go further down the road. As I know mistakes happen I proceed down the road and check in to our cabin not realising the “executive cabin” would be on old outdated and dirty cabin. For $394.20 for two nights ($197.10 per night )
Those prices also had a 10% discount when I rang and booked so would’ve cost over $400+ for two nights

I expect for that kind of money that the beds would’ve been cleaned and not dusty.. the room not be dirty and that some general maintenance could be kept on these rooms considering they’re the executive cabins of this park..

On 31 December 2020 at approximately 1915 hours I attended The Shack - West Beach Parks to order takeaway meal.

Whilst I waiting for the food being prepared, I noted the cook at The Shack - West Beach Parks, handling food namely deep fry food (battered fish, calamari rings, chicken nuggets and chips) without food handling gloves.

I saw the cook use her bare hands to place the food items into various polystyrene boxes and then attempted to close the lid on the food items with her bare hands while squeezing the food into the box with her bare hands.

When I approached the female service attendant behind the counter at the The Shack - West Beach Parks to notify her of her of the unhygienic food handling practice, I was accused of being a liar and was futhermore accused of being rude .
The female service attendant stated to me that the cook was using gloves. I stated I have been watching the cook for approximately 10 minutes and the cook was not wearing gloves.

I requested the name of the cook but was refused details. I am sure security camera footage would show otherwise.

I do not appreciate food handling that is unhygienic. Futhermore, the cook was not wearing a hair net. Her hair was pulled back in a plat, but given her hair length which was very long, the hair should have been placed in a hair net.

Also on the 1st January 2020 at about 2pm I went into The Shack to see if the hygiene practice had been adhered to. I notice the male cook preparing food with his bare hands (no food gloves). He was handling tomato into a burger bun. I proceeded to watch for the next 10 minutes and was appalled to see the male continuing to use his bare hands whilst preparing customers orders.

Given COVID Biosecurity, the handling of food without gloves is unacceptable.

The food handling standards are a clear breach and local council and the relevant health authority have been notified of the seriousness of this issue.

The Shack cooks and staff have placed consumers health at risk by not adhering to basic food handling standards.

At the very minimum staff should be retrained. It is the responsibility of management to ensure staff adhere to basic food handling requirements.

Thank you for your feedback. At West Beach Parks, the health and safety of our staff and guests is paramount. All staff that work in our onsite café are appropriately and routinely trained in food hygiene. All café staff hold the necessary hygiene and food handling qualifications. As with all commercial food and beverage operations, The Shack is routinely inspected by the relevant health and hygiene authorities to ensure it meets the appropriate standards. We take such matters very seriously and can confirm that, following your complaint, Council food hygiene inspectors visited the Shack. They confirmed that gloves are not required for food hygiene practices, as long as hands are washed when handling different food items. They were satisfied with all our hygiene practices.

A VERY expensive caravan park! We paid $149 per night for a small studio cabin which had ants everywhere. In the cupboard under the sink was the first place we saw them as soon as we arrived and then the bed when we got in it. There was no COVID safe consistency with security because one day the swimming pool was so packed we were almost shoulder to shoulder with strangers and then the next day security weren’t even allowing 125 people in even though the sign stated 125 maximum. My youngest grandaughter was refused entry into the pool on our second day because she didn’t have a wrist band on. Being only 3 years old she didn’t understand and got upset so her Dad went to reception to ask why one of their 4 children were not given a wrist band and reception staff said they don’t give them to minors that young. We then had to inform the security of this which staff at the park should have done in the first place. The pool is a good size with shaded cloth over it. Lots of poolside chairs were available. Splash park was fun for the kids. Was nice being able to go direct to the beach from the west side of the park. Swiper cards were needed for entry and exit which was good. Super busy place. Great atmosphere for families with children. The cabins could definitely do with upgrading especially as they are so expensive.
The Shack Cafe is a nice place at the park to have a meal or drink. Our biggest and best highlight of our stay was “Strawberries Galore” - a van on site selling ice creams, pavlovas, mousse, thick shakes etc

Dear GlobalAdventureTrips - thank you so much for providing your review so we can aim to improve our guests expectations. We are sorry to hear that you experience ants in your cabin - its been a rather tricky summer to manage our ant issues however our team have tried ever so hard to try and eradicate these pests to ensure guests are not impacted. I believe you spoke to one of our Reservation Agents regarding the ant problem, whom offered you to move cabins as an option? We appreciate your frustration regarding the Pool and Security confusion you experienced and have passed this feedback on to the team for clarification. If you do wish to discuss this further, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Manager on: (08) 8355 7369 Great to hear that you felt the atmosphere that we offer was great for families and children and pleasing to hear you got joy out of the Strawberries Galore Food Truck and our onsite cafe, The Shack during your stay! We hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Warm Regards, West Beach Parks

This park would have to be one of the safest family parks around with new security fencing which can only be entered by access card, even access to the beach a card is required.facilities especially for children are excellent. Our only complaint is access to the handicap facilities the doors are heavy and almost impossible for wheelchair and mobility scooter access.Surely with the amount spent on securing the park extra dollars could have been spent on automatic sliding doors.

Stayed at this park from 19th to 22nd March 2024, everything that one needs for their stay is provided in the cabin. The 2 seater Lounge and Bed were comfortable and cosey, Bathroom was well laid out. Entrance to cabin includes climbing a couple steps which is not good for people with walking and knee problems.
You can also purchase meals at the West Beach Eatery which is located in the park. The Menu is good but prices a little high. The cost to stay there is also high at $184 per night during school holidays. So be prepared if you go there when the prices are high it will cost $552 for 3 nights. Bir rich for pensioners.

We stayed at West Beach caravan park at a powered site with our 5 year old grandson. We found the facilities wonderful to entertain him - heated pool with shallow end, bouncing pillows, playgrounds, close to beach and walking track great for bike riding. Amenities were clean and adequate. Site was easy to access into.
We had a special on nightly site rate otherwise it would have been very expensive to stay at approx $57 plus $10 for child.

The blinds on the cabins are closable giving you enough privacy for yourself. You will be given a key for the cabin allowing for you to lock the doors. You will also be given a key card to open the boom gates to come and go as you please. This key card also gives access to the park gates. Security is great as there are Guards who roam the park to ensure safety of the Park. A really safe place to be. Hope this helps and hope you have a good stay as I did.
Answer from West Beach P
Hi there, depending on the length of time you are in house depends on how many visitor passes are given. Each time a visitor uses a pass they are required to come in the office and hand it in for a wrist band. The visitor pass is a once only use, once they have been used up it's a $5 charge. This charge is to gain access into our property and is necessary due to the volume of people already in the park, and makes it fairer for guests to have full use of the facilities. I hope that makes sense, if you have any questions please give us a call on 1800 444 567. Thanks :)
