We absolutely loved our three night getaway staying in a beachfront bungalow. The bungalow is an open plan concept with comfortable king sized bed, living area, and a small kitchen area that included a sink and an empty bar fridge to store your drinks. The sizable bathroom had a shower and a relaxing spa bath. The location is truly second to none. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the deck, sipping homemade Long Island ice teas and watching all sorts of happy people enjoying the beach and ocean. We found all the staff pleasant and welcoming. Particularly, the ladies who made up our room each day of our stay. We dined at the restaurant each evening and enjoyed the selection of meals from the daily roast of the day to the fresh seafood plate which my partner thoroughly enjoyed. However, we felt the included continental breakfast service needed a little refinement. It fell below our expectations and felt more like a two star motel experience - but, that was really the only slight disappointment of our stay. All in all, a wonderful and relaxing place to stay!…
An amazing two night get away for my husband and I. We had the Bayview terrace room which was awesome. Complete privacy and we could leave the shutters up and listen to the waves in bed. Complete privacy as well with the jacuzzi on the deck. Restaurant was nice and staff were friendly. Very very clean and well maintained. I don’t think the website does it justice. A tad (and this is super minor) aged in the bathrooms but well appointed. A beautifully rustic bare foot luxury weekender close to Sydney !
Having now read all the average reviews dating back the past 8 years, it’s clear nothing has changed here for at least a decade, and management haven’t taken any constructive or negative feedback on board. Our recent experience was so incredibly underwhelming. Aside from the beachfront location, ‘charming’ bungalows and tropical gardens, this is a 3.5 star hotel at best. So many little things - like the dated decor, limited amenities, poor wifi and unpolished service - would be forgivable, if the food wasn’t so average and overpriced. I’ve never been more disappointed by a menu (boring and old fashioned) but then even more disappointed to see the food arrive (bland and poorly presented). We live locally, and can’t think of a similar restaurant where the food is of lower standard. My home cooking is better and that’s saying something. At $600+ a night, staying here is a special occasion so this ‘exclusive luxury resort’ should make it feel like one. Paying for coffee at breakfast (actually paying for breakfast at all given it was supposedly included in our package) and a credit card surcharge on the way out, was the final sting. We reluctantly paid and left. What is achingly frustrating about it all, is that the fixes are so obvious. Remove/replace some of the dated decor, first impressions count - the foyer is crying out for renovation, refresh the restaurant (esp glassware here and in the rooms too), bring in a new head chef and upskill the staff. While those we interacted with were pleasant enough, it’s clear they don’t know - or simply haven’t experienced for themselves - what 4-5 star hospitality looks like. Welcome guests with a drink, add some special touches to the rooms, acknowledge birthdays/anniversaries etc, take breakfast orders at the table, and for heavens sake, don’t charge for machine coffee. Offering guests stand up paddle boards to hire, beach umbrellas or even goggles + snorkel to explore the bay would be a nice idea too. The Central Coast needs more great places to stay - please do better!…
Recently stayed 2 nights in a Terrace Spa Bungalow & had a wonderful time. Really lovely bugalow with beach/water views from our balcony & room. It was so lovely to only have to work 5-10seconds & your at the beach. Lovely hosts & quite a DVD collection. The outdoor jacuzzi was amazing & extremely warm & was extremely relaxing with the waves rolling in in the background. We sadly didn't make it to breakfast during our stay as we decided to make the most of being able to sleep in during our stay, the dining area did look spectacular with beach views ( we will most definitely make it to the dining room during our next stay haha). Thank you all for a wonderful stay, we had a lovely time & look forward to returning in the future. ☺️ Jess & Adam.
We’ve stayed at Kim’s twice now - and had dinner numerous times at the restaurant. We lived in New York City for 7 years, where we ran and owned our restaurant - and have travelled the world over. Kims is unlike anything we’ve experienced. It feels like a mix between Montauk in the Hamptons and the North Shore in Hawaii. The thing about Australia is - we love to knock down old buildings and create new, dull spaces. Which are always so depressing and lacking character. Kims feels like I’ve gone back in time. That’s the whole charm of it. Cabins RIGHT on the beach. Surrounded by palms and bamboo. A restaurant and bar that hasn’t been touched in years - with so much character and history. Overlooking the beautiful, lush lawns. Live music by the fire. The freshest seafood without all the cream and butter. Those Moreton Bay bugs are the best I’ve ever had. Why? Because they don’t mess with them. Just some fresh lemon, pepper and salt... YUM! We’ve stayed in both a bungalow - down behind the beachfront bungalows and the Hideaway villa. Which felt like a two story penthouse apartment - with our own heated pool, hot tub, open fire and sauna. We preferred the Hideaway - just because of the privacy. We didn’t leave in the two days. Only to pop down for dinner and to grab some breakfast. They treat you like family at Kims. It’s like visiting your family - without the judgements! I just read another review on here about Kims being discriminatory to a gay couple. That’s ridiculous! My husband and I are treated like everyone else and we always see same sex couples there. Oh, speaking of which... there are NO KIDS! Can Kims get any better? See you at Xmas! And thank you for the best two nights we’ve had all year.…
