I stayed 3 nights in a room with its own ensuite and I was perfectly happy. I felt the price was reasonable for what was provided. I normally stay at 5 star hotels so this was a new experience for me, but my experience was great and I will certainly stay here again. Pros: - Good sized room for the price - Very clean - Friendly reception - 2 min walk to Strathfield train station (with easy access to everywhere) - Major grocery shop (Woolworths) is 3 min walk and is open to midnight everyday - Lots of excellent restaurants - amazing for Korean food + Indian, Chinese etc - Good wifi - Excellent aircon/heating Cons: - It’s a Lodge (next step up above a Hostel) so don’t expect anything fancy - Need to carry suitcases up one flight of stairs on arrival. There is a lift but it’s not visible on arrival. - No daily room cleaning (but I assume it’s you need anything they will supply it). I didn’t need anything extra. - No services - i.e. no room service etc (however it’s literally surrounded by restaurants) - The location is very easy and convenient for travelling to anywhere but it’s not in the Sydney CBD. Overall rating - 4 out of 5 .... keeping in mind that this is budget accommodation.

Appears to be just converted student dorms, very basic and spartan, TV reception poor, lighting poor. Beds OK. Floors were floating style for high wear, certainly not for comfort. Basic levels of room amenity only.

Great place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. Daniel on reception, very welcoming on our arrival, helpful in giving us information. Rooms are small but extremely clean, each one has a small bar fridge, clean bathroom with great water pressure. Strathfield train station a 3 minute walk from Lodge. Trip to Circular Quay 15 minutes. This is a Korean suburb and the choice of restraunts unbelievable. All in all a nice and economical place to stay

As I am visiting relatives for the next few days & the train leaves early from Strathfield Station Sydney, I decided to leave a day early & get a nice hotel. Found the Shilla Lodge Hotel on the Boulevarde in Strathfield. I have a nice quiet room & I am 300 meters from Strathfield station. The staff at the Shilla Lodge Hotel are very helpful ... always wanting to help me! The gentleman that carried my bag to my door was very helpful! It is a nice if room with a lounge room where we can make a cup of tea & relax ... just what I need.

I stayed at Shilla Lodge for five nights when attending a conference with friends. I found the location to be really good with lots of places to eat and the Strathfield Train Station just a four minute walk away. We stayed in rooms that were modern and clean but the shared bathroom was discusting . They need to be completely ripped out and replaced with new units especially the sinks. The small shared kitchen area suffered a rubbish bin that was always overflowing into the ground and cutlery/plates were in short supply. This all sounds negative but with a little bit of TLC and a new bathroom all this would be solved. We do hope to stay here again although next time in a room with it’s own bathroom.

Stayed here with my mum for only a night just to visit our friends in Strathfield.. I found the room extremely neat and the staff was welcoming. Although the room was quite small and the lift gave off a claustrophic feel but still tolerable, our staying experience was really pleasant. Might come back for a short stay again

We were looking for somewhere to stay close to the Showgrounds for the show. We had 2 double rooms for 2 nights. The staff when we arrived were very curt and unhelpful. Parking was a big problem. The only place we could find was in the Strathfield Plaza carpark and that was $60.00 per night. It did not open until 8 am which meant we could not get our car out early. The rooms were extremely basic. The bathrooms were not clean and neither were the vinyl floors of the room, they were sticky when you walked on them. One room did not even have a bin. One of the rooms had empty condom packaging between the wall and the bed. The rooms were not serviced during our stay - not even clean towels or emptying of the only bin. A very disappointing experience.
