We were the first guests in the Retreat in February 2012. The accommodation is situated below the family home and is really quiet and peaceful. Careful choices have been made with the furniture and fittings and the room is very attractive and comfortable. There is a splendid multi media set up with a huge choice of films, photos, music and TV programmes should you tire of the spa, the view and the owl watching. A delicious breakfast is served on the deck and the table is set inside if you want to bring home a take-away meal. Attention to detail included daily advice on activities and places to visit and even the weather forecast. Gowns, plenty of towels and extra bedding is provided and even chocs. Our hosts were really friendly and helpful. We thoroughly recommend this Retreat.

My husband and I stayed at the Mt Evelyn Retreat for a mid-week getaway in December 2012 as we had wedding ceremony to attend to close by.

This is one of the best B&B in the region (This is our third trip to Yarra Valley region, all staying in B&B or boutique hotels). It's presentation is immaculate.

We've enjoyed very much the high tech gadgets such as the Apple TV with a myriad of free movies; TV shows and music; free wireless; iPod/Iphone dock/speaker and the highly recommended Hydrotherapy spa combined with the peace and quiet that just a place surrounded by a natural reserve and wild life could provide.

The bedroom is quite secluded being completely independent from the the house and facing the bush.

Everything was perfect: from the in-room breakfast provisions (which included locally sourced fruits, choice of cereals, orange juice and choice of bread - try the pane de casa loaf) to the trendy and extremely comfortable furniture and furnishings.

The location is excellent: walking distance to the village with cafes and shops and close to the vineyards in the region.

The owners take pride in what they do and it shows. They are extremely professional and yet they were able to give us a homey feeling during our stay. Highly recommended.

When our Bali flights were cancelled we googled "outdoor spa with views" and this gorgeous property came up. We were warmly greeted by Gareth on arrival and from the moment we entered the retreat it felt and smelt so inviting.

As our plans to holiday in Bali were to celebrate my 40th birthday, Caroline made sure to acknowledge this by leaving a welcome note at the entrance and a bottle of bubbles on ice for us to enjoy. The recommendation of booking a home delivered fine dining banquet by Flitterby (thanks Carl) was a perfect way to finish off my birthday.

The retreat was warm and cosy, but when we returned from exploring Yarra Valley surrounds during the heat of the day, the room was always cool. I spent many hours reading a novel (which is a novelty for me), while sipping a cuppa on the back deck, listening to the soothing sounds of nature in the background... And then I spent many hours in the evening, sipping a glass of wine while enjoying the view in the relaxing spa.

Our 10yo daughter enjoyed exploring the forest jungle and when it was time to wind down, there were plenty of movies on the Apple TV to keep her entertained. Thank you Caroline and Gareth for sharing your property with us, it was exactly what we needed to forget our disappointment of not being in Bali.

Beautiful area and accomodation to match.
Great for girls weekends, can accomodate up to 4, and in style and comfort.
Whilst attached to a private house, there is absolute privacy and would be perfect in all weather conditions, as it was very cool during the heat of summer, however has heating options and outside areas are fully covered.
Already have plans to return in place.

This was a wonderful place to stay. Everything was set up to welcome us with lovely oils burning and music playing.
Total privacy guaranteed with an outdoor spa to complete the experience. A continental breakfast was included, including orange juice.
We spent quite a bit of time in the spa overlooking the forest and felt totally revitalised when we regretfully left. Thank you Caroline for our wonderful two days and we will be back.

The location of this cottage was just amazing! View was just what I hoped for also. Loved the deck and enjoyed our in house massages on there. Small cozy and romantic cottage, perfect for our 1st anniversary celebration. Had great hosts, warm and welcoming. Also had a banquet delivered to our cottage, superb ! Definitely a must try!
