Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We chose the Abode Hotel Woden for a number of reasons. Firstly, it was close to where we were attending a family funeral in Canberra. Second, it was one of the few venues where we could have four rooms for all couples in the same hotel at the same time making transport much easier. Thirdly the prices were OK. The apartment style rooms are large, quiet, well-furnished and have all the amenities you would need for a few days stay. There is a Westfield shopping centre around the corner, a bus station close and the address is close to a number of main highways. It is close by car, taxi, Uber or bus to town and the Parliament House precinct. There is a good restaurant and bar on the ground floor and 24-hour reception desk. A word of caution about parking. There is no parking at the hotel. There is a government carpark over the road from the venue. It is not covered and not patrolled. The ticketed carpark operates from 8:00am to 5:30pm on a $4.00 per hour basis. Overnight and weekends are free. There is a loading and unloading bay in front of the hotel. It is policed strictly and fines start at $134.00! No problems with the hotel and I would have no problems recommending the Abode Woden, just be aware of the parking.

Everything is fine except the free water. Could you please do the environment a favour and stop shipping huge amounts of water in glass bottles from Italy to give away free. It's water! It's not necessary to burn fuel shipping it half way around the planet - there is water in Australia.

I spent a very comfortable night in the Abode Hotel in Woden. As I was using public transport the location in close proximity to the bus terminal was very convenient. Check in was simple and the staff were professional and friendly. I had difficulty using the room heater (my fault not the heater) and a staff member happily came up to the room to assist. The room was spacious and very well appointed including a microwave, espresso coffee maker and plenty of eating utensils. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was about as good as it gets for a 4 star hotel. All in all I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning to this quality hotel sometime soon.

If your staying and have a Car , be aware Parking is expensive and the Car Park across the road is $16 for 4 Hours , there are spaces $16 for full day but these are nearly always taken. Car is parked out in the open so you have NO Security Reception Staff are foreign and English is their Second language and if you try to get help or information they struggle to understand. Fawlty Towers does exist. View from Studio Rooms is a Brick Wall as in in Pic attached . no biggie but it is confronting Showerhead is 2.4m above the ground (see pic) and water goes everywhere, puzzling

From the time I entered the reception area I could tell our stay was going to be a good one. A cheery welcome from the receptionist and confirmation that our room access card would also give us access to the underground carpark. I was given directions on how to find the entrance for the carpark and told how to find our room on the first floor. All carparks are clearly marked with the room number and there are a good number of disabled spots close to the elevators. Our room was well presented, clean and well laid out. There was a fully equipped kitchen and surprisingly a full laundry hidden behind folding doors in the bathroom. The walk-in shower was a good size and water pressure and temperature could not be faulted. We had no problem with noise at any time and the very comfortable bed provided a good nights sleep.

The location of the hotel is great as it is right in the heart of Woden. However, it doesn't feel safe for a woman walking after dark as there is a lot of construction going on, and there are narrow walkways leading to the shops and restaurants. The room was large with half tiles and half carpet. The bed was big but very hard. The view of a brick wall to the building next door was depressing as it blocked light. The bathroom was nice with a big bench to put things on and good lights and mirrors and a walk-in shower, which was strong and warm. The staff were below average as my room wasn't cleaned on the first night, in spite of me having put out my request tag on the door.. which was annoying. When i asked for fresh towels, the staff member was belligerent and reluctantly handed over one towel. There were various other examples dueing my stay. However, there were some nice ones who were helpful. One thing i thought was odd it that there is no phone in the room...so if there had been some emergency, you have to google the hotel and ring externally.. which seems bizarre 🤔 Also, there is no parking, so you have to pay high prices to park in the local bays and keep an eye on the parking infringement officers so you dont get a fine.

Check-in was easy and room was clean, but that's all that was good. First-level room was VERY noisy late and early, no parking on-site, room was cold (heat unit couldn't hold temp), bathroom sink didn't drain, bed and pillows were very soft (understand this is personal preference), shower pressure was terrible, and there was no desk or table to work or eat at. Only stayed here for location convenience but wouldn't recommend at this price.

Was travelling interstate for work and need a central place to stay. Abode Woden came up with a solid review base so I chose this venue. First impressions from the outside - old, tired looking building. Parking - opposite the premises, I had to pay until 530pm (wasn't informed if being a guest provided courtesy parking - so an additional cost) Reception - friendly and informative Second floor - found my room. Walls seemed old, tired, scuffed. Room - small. I informed the hotel I was travelling for business, yet the room had NO space to work after hours. No table or desk etc. Bathroom - clean. Shower, pressure was weak and the temperature was not hot at all. Spent most of the time cold trying to warm myself up. Had the setting at hottest and brightest pressure. Get really let down after a long day. Noise - mostly quiet but could hear neighbouring rooms turning on taps and water running etc Bed - large, comfortable and the room was nice and dark which I like. Didn't love it but it provided what I needed. Feedback is better water pressure, hotter. Also a space to use a laptop with a desk etc

We had family business in Woden and this location is perfect for us. The closeness to the Hellenic club is also good. We booked for 2 people through hotels.com but at checkin they say it’s only for one person so we have to buy an extra breakfast voucher at $20. (Not bad value but still annoying.) hotels.com still shows the booking is for 2 people. Parking is across the road in a paid car park. You have to be out of there before 8:30am or organise payment before that time. Tip - join the Hellenic club and parking is free. The room was fine. Spacious. We slept well. It was quiet but there is some construction works around that started before 7am. The breakfast is in a cafe on the ground floor and it’s cooked to order. The poor waiter was literally running trying to keep up with things. At one stage a manager was turning away customers saying they couldn’t take any orders for 20 mins. I’ve never heard that before. Very annoying if you have to go to work etc. So - basically a pleasant place to stay with a few annoying glitches.
