My wife and I spent 3 nights at Monteverdi and the experience was wonderful. We drove from Florence, taking a scenic route via Siena. GPS certainly helped the navigation. This was a place where we could truly relax and appreciate the simple luxury of tranquility. The property is a the top of the hill overlooking the beautiful Val d'Orcia. We... More

We first visited Monteverdi Tuscany for 3 days in July 2014. My husband wished a most special place to celebrate his 60th birthday this September and chose to return here for nine days This choice pretty much says how much we loved this place. MT is all about soaking in the beauty of the countryside. I don't think there are... More

This is a unique hotel, literally off the beaten track, in a beautiful village setting with wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside. The rooms are individual and stylish. There is enough space to feel you are alone in your own Italian idyll. Yes it is expensive, but the restaurant is top class. For simpler fare there is a wine bar.... More

Have to admit we were unlucky with the weather and when staying in a place like this, it will make all the difference. The tiny little restored village is cute, but you should know that there is nothing else than the hotel and its grounds there. We were slightly misled by looking at some travel sites beforehand that there was... More

My wife and I have stayed at Monteverdi four times now and words (or pictures) don't do it justice. The facilities and staff are absolutely amazing. It's a living villiage (with a handful of local residents) that has been maintained to the historic standards that one would expect in Tuscany, but has 5-star modern amenities throughout. We highly recommend it,... More

Prior to arrival it is hard to comprehend Monteverdi in Tuscany. The website and reviews certainly paint a pretty picture but the description of a hotel/ inn that is essentially a small hilltop village must be seen and experienced firsthand to understand how special it is. Indeed, the hotel owners have purchased MOST OF a hilltop village in Tuscany. There... More

Amazing location on the top of a hill as hill villages are meant to be, a small village with typical narrow streets, small village square outside the church and some Roman ruins. But this is a village with only a very few local residents, where the buildings have been converted into hotel rooms and holiday apartments. This creates a slightly... More

From the hotel’s website, I thought we had struck gold. After staying I’d say it’s nice but, as the days went on we started noticing things that we think make it far from a 5 star property. The staff at the hotel are all very nice as was previously mentioned. Prices start at €650 so given the cost I naturally... More

From the time you enter this village, you enter into a different time zone of tranquillity and peace. Art is everywhere from the food to the rooms. Highly recommended despite the relatively high price tag, it's an experience that I recommend.

We loved the property so much. It's an old village converted into a small resort hotel. The views on all of the grounds are absolutely incredible, and the staff is delightful and helpful. It's a small closely knit group of people that will feel like family by the end of the week. They gave us advice on where to go... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Monteverdi Tuscany is a collection of three exquisitely restored rental villas and a 12 room boutique hotel in the historic village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro, southern Tuscany, Italy. Located equidistant between Rome and Florence, this secluded, yet convenient hamlet is home to Monteverdi Tuscany. In a unique architecture, the rooms and private villas are spread across the small village. One focal building hosts the hotel reception and concierge services, while our four luxury hotel rooms, five signature suites, two collection suites, the Oreade restaurant, the Monteverdi Enoteca, a lounge bar and a private art gallery are scattered across different ancient buildings of Castiglioncello. To preserve the authenticity of the village and protect the local culture, every building has been carefully renovated following its original design adding modern amenities and luxurious furnishings. The hotel merges seamlessly into the village and no distinction is made between residential properties and Monteverdi Tuscany. ... more   less
